The CARvsATL game last year was a fluke. A crapload of off-the-field shenanigans that week...and the arrival of a special someone...distracted the team from focusing on one-game-at-a-time. ATL took advantage of where our heads were at.

Remember when everyone was so terrified last year of playing Seattle, Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Green Bay, aka "Murderer's Row"? That's how I feel about this season's West Coast trip(s). We can dread it all we want, but in the end I don't think the travel factor will matter much.

I used to do a game-by-game prediction every year until I realized it was futile. I was fairly successful guessing the end record, but the individual games were a crapshoot. With that said, I think we drop one or two division games this year and one or two outside the division, putting us between 12-4 and 14-2. It helps that some of our tougher games -- Arizona and Kansas City -- come at home. Beating a good team twice in a season is difficult to do, so I wouldn't mind regular-season losses against AZ or SEA. Sets up the "revenge" factor in the playoffs. As long as we still have the better record and the #1 seed, of course...

I'll split my estimate and say 13-3, which is also a record the Panthers have never recorded. Fourth straight NFC South crown, #1 seed, Super Bowl 51 Champs.

Here's mine:

at Denver:  Win

San Francisco:  Win

Minnesota:  Win

at Atlanta:  Win

Tampa Bay:  Win

at New Orleans:  Win?  Given how close our two games against the Saints were last season, and the wear and tear of 3 division games back to back to back, I put this down early in the year as a Loss, but the Saints are looking pretty dreadful, so I now think we'll get a W in New Orleans.

Arizona:  Win

at Los Angeles:  Win

Kansas City:  Win?  I think we'll probably win this, but I think KC could be a very tough team this season.  It may come down to which team is healthier at this point of the season

New Orleans:  Win

at Oakland:  Win

at Seattle:  Loss.  Winning in Seattle is tough, especially after a week on the West coast....

San Diego:  Win

Washington:  Win

Atlanta:  Loss  - Short week.  Division opponent.  Christmas week (distractions).

at Tampa Bay:  Win

Mine with some comments

at Denver:  Win QB with 1st start against a top 5 defense.  

San Francisco:  Win  Blaine Gabbert - Enough said

Minnesota:  Win - Bradford doesn't instill fear and we are at home.

at Atlanta:  Loss - Atlanta in Atlanta is tough.   Once again our first loss of the season is to Atlanta

Tampa Bay:  Win  Winston is gonna be good we win a close one at home.

at New Orleans:  Win  Offense is good but their defense sucks and everything they brought in to help is out.

Arizona:  Win - We will protect our turf.   This is game is gonna get as much hype as game one.

at Los Angeles:  Win - Rams will not upset us.  Goff is not ready

Kansas City:  Win - Dink and Dunk football plays into our hands.  Plus we are at home.

New Orleans:  Win See up above reason

at Oakland:  Loss   Oakland at home in the middle of a AFC West fight.  We'll lose this one

at Seattle:  Win  Seattle has OLine issues no player is starting in the same position from last year.  We get to Wilson and win another one in Seattle.  

San Diego:  Win   Chargers looking at the playoffs from the outside.   No fight left 

Washington:  Win  In Carolina.   Skins will be out of the race.

Atlanta:  Win  We get revenge for 1st loss and pound Atlanta early and often. 

at Tampa Bay:  Loss Tampa wins a wildcard spot with a win.  Carolina has 1st seed locked up plays 1st unit only 1st half.

 

13-3 #1 Seed 

16-3 overall with last win in February 2017.   Carolina honors #51 by winning Super Bowl 51.
