This signing tells me a lot about Horton.  The Panthers would rather have an unknown and unsuccessful (up to this point) DE on their team instead of Horton.  I sure hope they find someone else to bring in because DE is still very scary right now.  

This is extra concerning since they might be starting 2 rookie CB's, and at the very least a very young secondary.  I sure hope C. Johnson is the Johnson from 2-3 seasons ago, and not the one we saw last year.

The huddle must be maturing. All this talk about de being a weak position and having all those linebackers and nobody has said "they should just switch to a 3-4 defense" like in years past.

Horton should have never started in 2014. The signing of Delaire in early 2015 and the trade for Jared Allen said all we needed to know about Horton. Still they keep him as the starter through 2014, keep him on through 2015, and then carry him all the way up to the season opener of 2016. This DE situation needed to be addressed in the draft or free agency.

Scott doesn't count against the 53. After the suspension we decide to bring him back or release him.

Game 4 Levar will be inserted as a starter with Ealy coming off the bench with reduced snaps. Game 5 Gettleman trades for Dwight Freeney - the oldest DE in the league.

all of our OLB's are converted safeties!

CJ and Ealy couldn't make the move to 3-4 OLB, and we'd need another quick DT.
