This is what a Buffalo TV station said about Lavar on Aug 8:

" Day 8 MVP: DE Lavar Edwards
- Though he’s had his struggles at training camp this year, Lavar Edwards was playing like a man possessed on Monday. He dominated his one-on-one reps versus the offensive line, and then continued that success into team drills by collecting two sacks. It will be an uphill climb to make the roster with the amount of solid players at the position as it is, but Edwards isn’t sitting idly by and just letting it happen. "

Honestly, I didn't know anything about him, and really still don't, but being that we are his sixth team in what is now his fourth season (according to NBC Sports), I would think that he is temporary depth, but at this point there is really no one else out there to acquire that has the possibility of a longer term stay (outside of...well I'm not getting that useless debate started again).  Suffice it to say that unless we trade for better, DE is going to be high on the totem pole next draft.

Funny, but we seem to give the drafted DEs more time to develop than we do the undrafted rookies--but I agree--Delaire is not getting better and sucks vs. the run.   I wonder if we are looking for another DE today....

I disagree about Delaire. I thought he showed some improvement  after that first preseason game. He's not all world by any stretch but he did learn from his mistakes.

His story is the same as Ealy, but he was drafted in 5th. Flashes starting potential, but then disappears for a while and shows mental/discipline lapses. He can not be trusted to be consistent. Ealy should have fell to the 4th or 5th too, but the Panthers reached for him.

Delaire should be gone. He gets the award for being the most yelled at player for laying on the ground this off season.

Outside of CJ, the Panthers DEs are loaded with inconsistent play and discipline break downs.

He played in Rex's 3-4. Titans run a 3-4 too.  To me that indicates hes more of a big body run stuffer. We still have Addison and Delaire to pass rush. I like it. We need to be able to be strong on the edges even if CJ or Kony go down.

So he was a 3-4 DE and not an outside LBer? That just doesn't seem like the kind of guy Gettleman would bring in here. I have to admit, this one confuses me.

Titans drafted him as a 4-3 DE in 2013 and switched defensive coordinators and schemes after his rookie season. I think I saw that he had 10 tackles with 1 TFL as a rookie. Since then, he's been a journeyman playing in 3-4 schemes that aren't cohesive with his skill set. So no one knows really what he's truly capable of doing. But at the very least, we are bringing him back to the right type of defensive scheme.

So, Horton or Delaire is gone.

I think Delaire back to PS (he had a weak preseason), Larry Webster to Burger King.

Edit: I could be wrong;

Today i unfortunately got released by the Panthers. I want to thank Mr. Gettleman and Coach Rivera for the opportunity

So is this another guy the Bills drafted to be a 3-4 LBer but is better suited to be a DE?

"It's easy for some solid NFL prospects to be overlooked on LSU's front four because of the ridiculous talent surrounding them and the team's constant rotation on the line. Edwards would have been a regular starter for the past three years for most college programs because of his size, strength and agility, but depth has kept him on the sidelines more often than not. He might have to come off the bench in the NFL, as well, but has the tools to be a regular contributor as a 4-3 swing end. "

Sounds like a good fit. We need depth.
