.....2005 Stefan Lefors QB Louisville (4th round)

-no stats, because he never started.

2002- Randy Fasani , Stanford (4th round)

- He played in four games, going 15-44, 171 yards, 0 TDs and 4 INTs, while rushing for 95 yards. He later signed with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, but did not play in any regular season games.

-As of 2008 he is a police officer for the city of Roseville, Ca

2001 - Chris Weinke QB Florida State (4th round)

- jersey retired at Florida State, heisman winner, johnny unitas award

- holds NFL record for most consecutive losses in a season by a QB with 14 (too bad the lions started 4 QBs in 2008). 2-18 as a starter.

-15/26 (td/int), 62.2 QB rating.

1995 - Kerry Collins QB Penn State (1st round)

-2 pro bowls (1996,2008)

-73.8 Qb rating

- 186/179 td/int.

We have only selected 1 Qb in the first round. For some reason, we thought we could find a franchise QB in the 4th round, sure you can do it, but after the first 2 times........

what i dont get is why the scouts couldn't pick out a good QB. 1 out of 4 (kerry collins) that is capable of winning the nfl. and why the hell they are afraid to pick one up early is beyond me. I understand we have good players that we have picked up in those earlier rounds, but I know good and well we could have done better. The only reason I bring it up, is because we have to go through this again this offseason. Unless of course, Matt moore, AJ Feely, or some other half-a** Qb is the Qb of the future. (sorry about calling Matt Moore out. it happens)

Using a high pick on a QB is arguably the biggest crap shoot in the entire league. Guess wrong, and you might set your franchise back for years (many teams have, and on QBs that were considered "can't miss").

Whether you agree with the "mid-level free agent" route that Fox prefers or not, there is a certain logic to it.

      If there's another QB that came to the combine after packing on 15 lbs of water weight to hide his playing weight, I don't remember it.  I understand it's all part of the pre-draft game, and he participated. The FO was stupid and ignored huge red flags.  On a side note though, I was at the airport a few weeks ago and saw a basketball team going through and decided to try and look through them. I'm 6'2 and these guys were 6'6 and up. I was amazed by how much I couldn't see around them. And these guys weren't 300 plus in pads. I still think he's having a hell of a time seeing the field at the NFL speed.

      There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.

      Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
