Well, I try to look at it rationally and answer the question in front of me: Why would a GM cut a draft choice at a position of critical need?

There are two possible answers: (1) The GM and coaches are dumb or (2) The GM and coaches don't think he's worth the roster spot at a position of critical need.

I think answer (2), being the most likely, tells us that DG and the coaches don't think Sanchez would make any meaningful contribution to the team this year against other teams 1st string WRs.  And, by cutting him, will hopefully get him to the PS and sign a CB that they consider more ready from other team's cuts.

I agree. He may not make it to the PS, but if they think he isn't good enough for this team and they want to sign someone else, I'm good with it

I also think Gettleman is a great GM but you are delusional if you think having 2 players in the top 10 of the entire league at important positions already on the roster when you take the job has nothing to do with it. Not to mention having a great coaching staff for developing players which was also in tact. Most GMs don't walk into a situation like this. They are building from the ground up. That's not bashing gettleman just keeping it perspective.

I don't think there is a single person on this board who doesn't think having Cam and Luke are gigantic parts of this team's success.

However, having a good GM put the right pieces around them also helps a lot.

The good news is that these things don't have to be mutually exclusive. It's ok to give credit to the players and to the GM. So many people on here hate to credit GMan because of Cam - that's just dumb

I really haven't. Remember when I said D. Hopkins would have a better career than Star....

Remember when I said Steve Smith could still play....

What do you care to wager?

Would you care to go back and review your predictions for last season?

And that's fine, lets see if he's still around when Cam isn't here. Me doubts it.

I'm not sure if Getts will be a GM when Cam is gone. Have a feeling he will retire within a couple years. He isn't exactly a spring chicken.

My thought exactly.

Can was a younger player and Ron was on his way to getting fired because he was a bad coach. He changed and Cam matured as a qb

And who was a good enough GM that he had the wisdom to be patient and give Rivera a chance, instead of firing him and bringing in his own guy? Not too many GM's you can say that about..

All this talk about "that's what happens when you have a deep team" is really confusing since we are absolutely NOT deep at CB.

True, but over and over again Gettleman said hes picking the best 53 regardless of position. Maybe, I don't know, he was telling the truth.

Was not high on him heading into preseason based upon his lack of size and college performance but i thought he handled himself fairly well and was suprised to see him cut. With that said if he passes waivers a year of maturation ad a NFL conditioning program will do him wonders.
