I think answer (2), being the most likely, tells us that DG and the coaches don't think Sanchez would make any meaningful contribution to the team this year against other teams 1st string WRs.  And, by cutting him, will hopefully get him to the PS and sign a CB that they consider more ready from other team's cuts.

I agree. He may not make it to the PS, but if they think he isn't good enough for this team and they want to sign someone else, I'm good with it

The good news is that these things don't have to be mutually exclusive. It's ok to give credit to the players and to the GM. So many people on here hate to credit GMan because of Cam - that's just dumb

The ironic part is that playing as a TEAM and checking egos was such a huge part of the team's success - they even say that. But us fans are so worried about who is getting the credit or who shouldn't be getting the credit to the point we cheer against the FO or a coach.

I'm not sure if Getts will be a GM when Cam is gone. Have a feeling he will retire within a couple years. He isn't exactly a spring chicken.

Surprising cut. My guess is they want to bring someone else in and don't have room, so they are rolling the dice that the rookie CB that was low on other teams draft boards will pass thru waivers.

And who was a good enough GM that he had the wisdom to be patient and give Rivera a chance, instead of firing him and bringing in his own guy? Not too many GM's you can say that about..

True, but over and over again Gettleman said hes picking the best 53 regardless of position. Maybe, I don't know, he was telling the truth.

Was not high on him heading into preseason based upon his lack of size and college performance but i thought he handled himself fairly well and was suprised to see him cut. With that said if he passes waivers a year of maturation ad a NFL conditioning program will do him wonders.
