this is one of the few gettleman moves that, as a fan who isn't privy to insider knowledge, i don't agree with or understand.  i felt the same way about boykin getting let go and we know what that ended up being about so who knows at this point.

i don't see how he doesn't get claimed by somebody though

Well we only had three picks past the second, and one of those is a 7th, and those rarely work out.   That being said, its way, way, way to early to be disappointed.  With only three picks, if one sticks from those three, then its probably a decent draft.  I agree that this is slightly surprising release, but I guess the team saw that that he didn't have that much potential, or perhaps someone else had more.

Sanchez should have never been drafted by us, he does not fit our mold.

That would have required him being willing to sign the franchise tender, which by all accounts he wasn't.

Norman wasn't going to be here no matter what.

Too many panties in a bunch for this.  Bene had a serious injury and there was no way to know for sure how he'd recover.  The Seahawks drafted three RBs and two may be cut.  Many day 3 picks league wide on inferior rosters will be cut.

Based on what's happened over the past week, it seems like Gettleman's philosophy is that the first 3 or so rounds of the draft are crucial and then it's a crapshoot after that.  He doesn't seem that invested in sticking with picks in the later rounds of the draft and seems to believe that you can get undrafted players that are just as good.

this is a shocker IMO.  I thought Sanchez played well.  Seemed to be in great position but was just 1 step away from breakups or INTs.  Hope we can get him to PS.   does this cut mean I smell a signing coming?  We can't be perfectly content with Teddy Williams, McClain, and Lou Young as back ups...
