Players who hurt/helped themselves (game4)

- Cash, Byrd, Mayo, Bersin, CAP are all locks in my opinion.

- Lucas has shown enough to me to be kept as TE 3 or 4

- Sandland, Simonson, Wegher, Teddy Williams, Wallace all look like cuts to me

- Garrett and Simmons helped their chances of making PS

I don't really pay attention to players on the lines. There are alwaye some surprise cuts and surprise keeps so it will be interesting to see what happens

Agree. Teddy Williams is strictly a special teams ace. We're in trouble if he ever has to play CB for us.

last year we signed a retired guy off his couch instead of playing Teddy at CB.

and he's hardly a special teams ace when he has as many penalties as tackles.

I think Lucas blocked his way into a roster spot tonight. We know he has the hands, and although he wasn't "blowing guys up" in the blocking game today, he did a solid job, made good recoveries, and had a few snaps where he blocked one guy and effectively switched off to pick up another. I'm confident the coaching staff will see the same.

Sandland needs the practice squad.

Olsen, Dickson, Simonson (I don't know why), and Lucas will get spots.

Sandland and Wallace on PS.

I want to believe Lucas can be a good TE for the Panthers but I don't know if he has the blocking ability and I could be wrong but I believe most of his catches came late in the game against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

As bad as Sandland has played I don't know if I'm worried because plenty of good tight ends didn't have good a rookie preseason and have done well. It's a position that can take time to develop.

Both Olsen and Dickson are not good blockers, this whole blocking thing is getting blown out of proportion.

As for Sandland he's a 7th round pick the chances of him developing into anything special are slim to none.

Helped:

Bersin and Byrd

CAP - Ran well and showed vision

Cash - Tackled well and Forced a fumble (turnovers are key)

Hurt:

Sandland

Wegher

my thoughts: We keep 6 WR (KB, Funchess, Ginn, Brown, Bersin & Byrd); Wegher and Garrett are Practice Squad bound And I don't think either lasts long there. We keep 6 LBs (TD, Luke, Shaq, Klein, Mayo, Cash)

To emphasize your point, they signed not only 1, but 2 guys off the couch. McClain hadn't played since NE's training camp in 2015.

Byrd may have earned a spot based on his blocking alone. I was seriously impressed with his downfield blocking, every big run we had last night seemed to be ran at Byrd who was locking his guy up well.

I'd rather have Simmons over Wegher on the PS

Bersin should make the team again, a very solid receiver.

Cash is a beast and I think we need him.

Mayo looks like a damn fine LB.
