I was thinking the same thing. Of all the backs tonight Wegher looked the worse. He did not look elusive or decisive especially inside. Payne flashed and ran North and South while Simmons ran well and bowled over people. Wegher looked like practice squad material at best.

Well, to be fair, blocking hasn't been the best for Wegher. That being said, I think that Wegher had an abnormal amount of undue goodwill in the bank based upon last preseason. As a result I belueve expectations were based more on fantastic hype than actual reality. Wegher looked pretty average in my opinion this preseason.

But Payne had the same blocking as Wegher in the first half and far outplayed him. And Simmons had the same blocking in the second half and did more with it. It isn't the blocking so much as Wegher can't elude tacklers and goes down with first contact. He looks nothing like he did last year

I love Wegher, I'm pulling for him, he has a lot of potential. But if I can only have one, I'd take Scoot. Looks like a young fast Tolbert.
