Panthers Sign Safety Stevie Brown

Stevie Brown is a Gettleman guy the Giants refused to keep, but Gettleman was adamant about his value.

Another Kurt Coleman type player who has been shuffled around the league. A ball hawk who takes bad angles and is poor against the run game.

The Panthers have 2 center fielders now in Coleman and Brown, but no safety capable of manning the SS position to support the run. Appears they are taking the approach that their LBs are so good, that they do not need an actual SS for 8 in the box.

The CBs are going to need the deep help anyway. So, 2 deep safeties may be the way to go while challenging teams to run the ball or attack the underneath zones on TD, Luke, and Shaq with 7 in the box.

I suppose all of the awful, atrocious, out of the league talent being mentioned from the Hurney era brought you in?

Just to clarify for the uninitiated, CPantherKing has no inside access whatsoever. Anything he tells you about what's going on behind the scenes is just some stupid s--t he made up to try and make his argument sound less pathetic.

Carry on.

I almost fell out of my seat laughing at this:

Stevie Brown is a Gettleman guy the Giants refused to keep, but Gettleman was adamant about his value.

Another Kurt Coleman type player who has been shuffled around the league. A ball hawk who takes bad angles and is poor against the run game.

It never gets old.

Well, he's not exactly in great command of the facts either.

Stevie Brown came to the Giants in 2012, that was Gettleman's "step back" year when he was only a consultant and someone else had taken the reins of the pro personnel department.

Gettleman left for the Panthers in 2013. The Giants kept Brown for two more years after Gettleman left, so the notion that he was a Gettleman guy that the Giants wanted to jettison is obviously ridiculous.

I mean heck, if you're gonna make s--t up, you could at least try to make it sound remotely plausible.

He doesn't let facts stand in the way of a good gettleman bashing. Best GM we've ever had and all he has to say is negative bullshit

Gettleman did not step down from the Giants personnel department. He stepped back from scouting the Giants opponents and focused solely on player evaluations and stocking the roster/ps. He was the senior advisor to the GM. Sternfeld, his protege, took the title of Pro Personnel Director and focused most of his efforts in his first year of that role scouting opponents.

So, yes, Stevie Brown was Gettleman's guy. He scouted him and recommended him as depth.

You should really do more research as to what Gettleman did with the Giants. He was still heavilly involved with the personnel side of the organization in 2012.
