Why Gettleman traded for Lee

I haven't seen any options to seriously upgrade, that Gettleman has passed on.

I happen to like Remmers.  I don't know what others expect out of right tackles, but Remmers does pretty good, and is one of the better right tackles the Panthers have had. He's improved since arriving, and he's holding off quality competition.

Plenty to like.

Again, there are Madden GMs on this forum that think in real life we should have All-Pros 2-deep at every position.

You point that out and they'll deny it, then you ask what THEY would do and somehow miracle Madden money, draft picks, and trades start occurring in their minds.  Either that or they'll ignore the question.

https://www.google.com/amp/boston.cbslocal.com/2016/01/24/what-went-wrong-in-patriots-afc-championship-loss-to-broncos/amp/?client=ms-android-verizon  read all about it. Even Vollmer who is widely regarded as one of the best RT's in the NFL had trouble stopping Von Miller. In the afc champ game. And people cheered their asses off before the game even started between us and thr cardinal's. Made me sick. You wouldn't have rather played the Pat's?? Poo I was there thinking the Pat's would have been better to play. Even though the Pat's flipped tackles Brady got hit a ton. Marcus cannon isn't great but he's widely thought of as a good starter. They both got man handled. Wouldn't have mattered if Vollmer was on the right or left. He can play both cause he's that good.

The fact that Lee's family already lives in Charlotte really sealed the deal for me. Gettleman does his homework. Lee will likely finish his career in Charlotte. Panthers are set at punter for the next few seasons if Lee can keep up a high level of play.

It has more to do with not giving Remmers help, because even the TE and the RB had to pick up Blitzes. That was Denver's plan. Now that huge Nose Tackle for Denver is gone, lets see how they do this time around.

Exactly.  This blows my fuging mind.  Somebody please name a team, in the entire NFL, that not only has the best players at every position on the o-line, but also doesn't suffer a drop-off when a starter goes down.  That's what some of the idiots around here expect.

Kalil is an all-pro center, Turner is a pro bowl guard, Norwell is on the brink of a pro bowl invite.  Oher is very solid, and Remmers is about average, maybe slightly above.  That's a pretty fuging good lineup.  There's going to be a drop-off if a backup comes in.  Every NFL team will experience that...

I'm mostly OK with this, but DG is kind of wish-washy.  We let Nortman go because he wanted too much money (he was pretty average/meh I get that) but there wasn't really options out there.  So we not only trade a 4th but take on a higher salary (I believe) than Nortman.  I get this guy is pretty good but he's also older.    I guess he took a chance and it didn't work.   We also left a HUGE checkbox "unchecked" by not letting Norman play out this year here and drafting 76 rookie cornerbacks, and expecting them to start which is still a huge question mark.

I'm not even going to say anything about Remmers because I'm not sure there was a better move there to be made anyway honestly.

I may be wrong, (because it sometimes takes a masters in accounting to understand cap hits), but it seems the guaranteed money is about the same as Nortman is getting.  I think that we can cut Lee in 2018 with no dead money, where as if Jacksonville cuts Nortman in 2018, they do have some dead money.  At least that is my limited understanding of the contracts.

He's a 3x pro bowler, 3x first team all pro, and 1x second team all pro.  If we're getting that for not much more than Nortman, we win.  I'm not too worried about his age, because punters/kickers can have a very long NFL life span.

How many Ts did Hardy make look like a scrub? Or Peppers?

Sometimes a good or above average player gets owned by a damn #1 at his position or HoF type player. Remmers was fine for most of the year and all the sudden he sucks because a future HoF pass rusher kicked his ass lol..da huddle.
