I'll always have a place in my heart for Weinke.

His jersey was the first one I ever got (being on the west coast we didn't get much of a selection and it was pretty much before online buying was practical).

It proudly hangs in my closet to be admired before being pushed aside for a more recent one.

I'm surprised you were able to find any Panthers jersey at all on the West Coast back then, let alone Chris Weinke.

There are a little over 100 4th round picks that were key to their team as starters since free agency began.

The point of the 4th to 6th round is to build a team. Without those picks all the other teams get them and fill out their rosters with some actual talent. The teams that give them up fill out their teams with the likes of David Foucault, Philly Brown, Damiere Byrd, Chris Scott, Brandon Williams, Teddy Williams, Ryan Delaire, Brenton Bersin, and Fozzy Whitaker. Not to mention all the scrub free agents on their last leg.

I agree on the fact that "usually" players picked in the 4th round and beyond have little to no impact. That's why when people argue "oh we can draft so and so later in the 4th round" they don't know the fact most starters where drafted in the first 3 rounds.

But to counter your argument, go look up all the punters drafted in the 4th round in the NFL right now, there isn't any. Punters are a dime of dozen usually found in free agency or later round picks.

Not all of the good ones, just simply some of the best.

From 2000-2012 there were 34 Pro Bowlers taken in the 4th round.

32 teams, 13 years.

416 draft picks (not including compensatory picks).

So we gave away an 8% chance to draft a Pro Bowler to trade for a...

Pro Bowler.

Gosh, I'm puzzled.  What the hell does Gettledouche think he's doing?

I knew that we hadn't gotten lucky with a 4th rounder lately (with a couple yet to be determined), but that list is pretty bad. By the time you get to the 4th it does become more of a coin flip as to whether you get a good player or not.

I'm sure this move will be a topic of discussion for years to come. I can't wait.

Good punters aren't a dime a dozen. There are only a handful of good ones.

Would you consider Lee in those handful? Cause statically he's pretty much middle of the road in all regards.

Fact is outside of Lechler in the mid 2000 their hasn't been a consistent dominant punter. Every year theirs a new punter leading in net, average or inside the 20.

Did you really have to make that list? It's not even Monday for fugs sake. Now I have to go find something to drink just so I can get through the rest of the day. I think I have a half bottle of Jager stashed in the work freezer in a Lean Cuisine box...

Hiding Jager in a Lean Cuisine box?

You sir, have a problem.

And I will pray for your kidneys, stomach and brain cells.
