He's signed through 2018.  This team is serious about having good special teams.  I like.  Nortman was not good last year.

Nortman sucked, but I don't see the point.  Redfern looked pretty good in my estimation...  good enough that we didn't need to give up a draft pick to bring someone else in, imo.  this was horribly managed.

Yeah giving up a 4th is ridiculous especially when you know there are other good punters out there that are going to be cut.

A guy can get a lot of in-game experience as a punter for the Browns.

Redfern totally out kicked his coverage in the game against the Pats and setup a big return, it was a 61 yard punt but he booted it right down the middle of the field which you can't do with the ability of returners in the NFL.

Biggest name that is in danger to be cut is colquitt... similar to scifres in production but is a much younger punter than scfries.. My hope was if/when scifres was cut that colquitt would be picked up.

Agreed.  My initial thought upon seeing this was, "why not wait for cuts and see if Colquitt is released?"  I'd imagine Colquitt's value has diminished now that it's public knowledge he's being shopped, so I can't see him commanding more than a 5th...  or him just being outright released, which i think is becoming more likely.

I thought Redfern looked good enough to at least play wait and see.  And if we were absolutely set on blowing a draft pick on a punter, why not draft one ourselves if the need was that urgent?

Oh well...  i know Lee is good, but he isn't worth a 4th rounder.

Actually this can be seen as an early fifth rounder and a late 6th. Not too expensive.

What was the harm in waiting? I'm sure the Browns would have jumped on a 4th round pick for their punter next week too.

We panicked and gave up too much but at least he's good. I feel better about the situation than before, despite the overpay

If he can have a 46.7 gross average like he did with the Browns last year, he's worth it.
