We had to teach Nortman to not out kick coverage too. A good leg is something you can work with.

And we never succeeded in teaching him that. It's a big part of the reason why he's no longer here. Fans see a 60+ yard punt and think it's awesome, but without proper hang time and direction, coaches see a 60+ yard punt and cringe because it gives the returning team much better odds of taking one to the house.

smh all we had to do was wait one day

Playing devil's advocate again, but who says he would be willing to sign here? Agreed though that the ideal situation would have been to get a guy like Colquitt without shipping a pick somewhere.

An article from last season...

Britton Colquitt was the 2nd highest paid punter in the NFL in 2014 (or highest paid punter depending on what number you use). His performance was bottom half or even bottom third of the league by almost every measure. In this piece we will look at just how much yardage Colquitt cost the Broncos in 2014 relative to other punters in the league.

There's no guarantee, sure, but I think he would come play for a contender.

Worst comes to worst, I'm fairly certain nearly every team in the league is willing to part with their punter for a future 4th round pick...like I said yesterday, I think the Browns would have snapped up that deal next week just as quickly as they did yesterday.

I would rather have a league average punter and a 4th round pick than an above average punter and no pick.

Not to mention this guy killed us in the Super Bowl and help flip field position for Denver a lot that game.
