I'm wondering how much only being half way through a 4 yr., 28 million $ contract had to do with his release. They would have taken about a 8.5 mil cap hit for this season and the next.

Boston starting position is not in jeopardy. It's the fact that Marlowe hasn't practiced in weeks, Travell Dixon was injured in the Tennessee game and Trenton Robinson will go on IR.
