Let's say we fire Fox at the end of the season

Cowher, yes he is the most ideal choice but I haven't heard or read anything that makes me believe he's interested in returning to coaching.

So who do we go after?

I take it you didn't watch Fox Pre-game yesterday where TB was emphatically saying that Cowher would go if Fox doesn't win??

Usually, where there's smoke, there's fire..

Holmgren>Fox

Why do we continue to see the need to recycle these old coaches? There are plenty of young minds out there that deserve there chance. I would rather see a young guy with some new scheme that will revolutionize the league. I'm tired of this rely on big plays and play bend but don't break defense. I want a shiny new toy.

Holmgren's not my first choice and I'd rather have him as an OC than a HC, but if our options are limited I wouldn't be against going there. Especially since every team he's been involved with has produced outstanding QB play. Joe Montana, Steve Young, Brett Favre (when he was still good), and Matt Hasselbeck all worked under Holmgren.

remember even if Richardson fires Fox it will likely take a mulling period to do so, and who knows how many moves other teams who've already fired their HCs can make in that time span.

This franchise needs some excitement and a fresh face is exactly what we need to go the distance. We have so much talent we just need a few pieces and someone to push them.

Still not convinced Fox is gone. Ditto Hurney.

Regardless, absolute emphatic no on any and all retreads, including Cowher (outside the Steeler system, who knows; and the total control model never works) Holmgren (outside of one season, mediocre with the Seahawks) Schottenheimer (regular season, si; playoffs, nyet) Gruden (one Super Bowl followed by years of mediocrity; add in no more Monte Kiffin plus the fact his players hated him by the end) Shanahan (unless you can restore John Elway to youth, he doesn't offer much) and yes, Jack Del Rio (what's he really accomplished in Jacksonville?)

I'm not ready to jump on any one year wonders either. Sean McDermott may have ruled us, but the Saints hung 48 on him a week later (let's not forget they play in our division). Let him prove it for a couple of years. Then we'll talk. He could just as easily be the next Jack Del Rio or Josh McDaniels (still a work in progress I'll grant).

If Fox is gone, give me Ron Rivera, Rob Ryan or Russ Grimm. I could accept Leslie Frazier too but I'm not as high on him as I am the others (his name doesn't start with 'R').

Fraizer is one of my favorite candiates, but you really don't know how much of his success is because of the hellicious dline he has. It's pretty easy to look good when you J. Allen and the Williams duo creating pressure.

For what its worth, watching the pregame of Fox Sports Terry said that Cowher was itching to get back to NFL coaching (while the cast talked about Fox living and dying by Delhomme). Don't know if he is assuming this or has more inside info than he can/would say. Guess time will tell...

I haven't heard anything about replacing Hurney (of course you never know about these things), so it could be a Cowher/Hurney regime, if it happens. This seems most likely and would not have issues with...

IMO, this would be horrible leadership on Richardson's part.. Anyone that has half a brain will be preparing long before the season is over.

The funny thing is, I can totally see you being right on that point. If that's how it goes down and Richardson delays the inevitable while some good coaches are promoted, I'm going to be sick to my stomach.

IF CHANGES ARE MADE.....All we can go on is what Mr. Richardson has done in the past. He fired George Siefert and Dom Capers the "Black Monday" immediately after the regular season ended. The only way the news will not come quickly is if the team and the new HC have already worked out some secret deal. Also, the Big Cat is a top shelf owner and a first class guy; he will cut everybody loose pretty quick so they will have a chance to find work somewhere else.
