every team this year can beat us if rivera doesn't make adjustments from the broncos game.

I don't mean to be that guy who points out the opposite of what the OP is desperately trying to get across but multiple linemen were beat ferociously on that second play you mentioned.  Including Trai Turner, one of the better guards in the league.  Daryl Williams was also in at guard on that play, and he looked like a turnstile as his guy went right into Cam.

Can we just say that one of the better defenses in league history whipped our asses while at the same time realizing that on any given Sunday in the NFL, if you don't show up this will happen.  I felt like we could have moved the ball on them if a few things would have bounced another way, including the catch.  Once we got one dimensional against that kind of defense it was over.  Momentum in the NFL is critical and we could never get it back in that game.

I don't think less of Rivera for getting out coached (considering he out coached 15 other teams during the regular season), more worried about how flat the team looked in the biggest game of their lives.

yeah everybody had a bad game, but disruption throws everybody off. it forces the qb to adjust in the pocket which makes protection harder. if insane talent was good enough they'd have just rushed four... but it wasn't, do they rushed five. that plus insane talent gave them the edge needed to win.

of course the sickening thing is we were still in it until that last fumble. it looked like destiny until that play.

what cam should have done every time he identified the blue dog blitz or any other blitz package was simply run a delayed handoff to the RB. Watching those gifs, the Broncos were manhandling our lineman, but lets not forget that could be a blessing in disguise if the right play call is made. The over pursuit of their defensive lineman would create a sh.it load of open space at the 2nd level, and J-stew/tolbert could have gotten huge chunks of yards the moment they identified an open hole.

i just hate the fact we didn't make any adjustments. we ran the same bs every time which clearly wasn't working. so frustrating.

This is why I say Shula fuged us over. Calling the same thing over and over again even when the Broncos had us figured out. He reverted to 2014 Shula. Thus I can never trust him again.

I still watch the divisional against Seattle and the NFCC against the Cardinals every couple of weeks while im running on a treadmill.  Helps me while doing speed work training for my upcoming marathon.

Oh yea well I just drank 5 tall boy Miller Lites and ate chili and BONELESS hot wings for dinner and now I'm pooping in a Hampton Inn in Grand Forks, ND.

You're right, its actually kind of crazy that we played that poorly (on offense) and still had a chance.  The defense was so good I think that gets lost in the final score.  If we had pulled out the win I think our defense's performance would have been just as epic.

we would still be gloating about kony's INT if we'd won that game

Great write up man.

Youre right about it being painful to watch, it is old wounds but it's about time we look at it.

Was some interesting looks you pointed out and made sense. I'm sure coach and staff have studied it like you pointed out.

The real interesting part of this rematch to me, is not if we find a strategy for this scheme (because im fairly certain we've figured that out) it's how Wade Phillips responds and what we do to respond to that.

Just didn't adjust properly. I think we didn't come into the game prepared enough or with enough plays to make the right adjustments. Shula always has trouble planning for when his plays arnt run exactly right or the def has an answer. His game plans have to be done perfectly with no outside problems or they fall apart. I've heard countless times we have the most complicated run schemes in the league. So if one part faulters and your not prepared to fix it, stuff gets bad fast.

I never went back and watched the SB game. Looking at that gif of Remmers it's clear he went full retard out there and didn't even know what he was doing. A random person of the street can backpedal too far like a buffoon and then reach out and touch Von as he breezes right by. I could do that with a broken leg. No problem. Another game like that from Remmers and it's time to put in Williams. He can't be worse than that. Horrible. Cost us the SB.

Good write up. If I'm not mistaken in that Auburn v Oregon thread that was resurrected i mentioned in that thread about the effectiveness of zone blitz vs a read option offense. The DE would either stand up and stay at home to delay a qb read or they would zone blitz randomly and often.

But Ron and Co were caught off guard and i think all of us were the most confident we had ever been going into that game.

Designed roll outs and more of that delayed wheel route you saw with Fozzy is good medicine for a weak link on the line. And more misdirection.

Can't say I agree with the sentiment of the title.

It was pretty obvious me, that our offense was making mistakes it normally doesn't make, and playing poorly in general. . .

And we still almost won the game.

I get the merit of, any given Sunday, but there aren't very many teams that can go toe to toe with our team.

Their defense forced us into some of those mistakes, but our offense generally doesn't play that poorly.

He would had been the MVP and with how we kept the Broncos under 200 total yards we would have gone down as one of the greatest teams of all time.

Wow now I'm depressed.
