A poster awhile back made a good, obvious point-this is an election year.  Come September a Hardy Jr signing would be a tempest in a teapot at best from the phony baloney media.

Sure, signing before OTA's is ideal in a normal circumstance.  But this is not a normal circumstance for a variety of reasons.  A 6+ year vested vet with an established rapport with teammates, non-guaranteed post week 1 contract, ensuring a complete offseason of no incidents or false accusations making the bad pub for nothing on the field a complete nightmare, no injuries, continued counseling efforts, successful youth camps, training with the right guy, no media circus for the rest of the team at camp, etc. is honestly more ideal than OTA reps in this circumstance.

Concur but the reason I never said never is because the closer the rubber gets to hitting the road the less sense it makes not to happen.

If every DE currently on the roster stays injury and suspension free, and performs to the height of their ability at this point, it's still an average/barely above average DE unit.  A below average unit is honestly more likely than an above average unit with this group at this point.

The cost of a trade is a 6th rounder for 2 sacks from a multiple DUI has been or a 2nd rounder AND OG taken in the top 10 on a rookie deal for a guy with drug problems whose team didn't want him and has less career sacks than Hardy Jr to boot.

Crawl through the dumpster sniffing for edible ham sandwiches with 31 other bums.
