Lloyd!

I'm just pissed off we didn't kick the 60-70 yard field goal before the half and then instead of going for it on 4th down when it would have been 28-23 (at this point), kick another field goal to make it 28-26. Get a stop, go all the way down the field and kick the game winner. But no! Let's have Jake heave a couple bombs that don't have near as good of a chance.

As long as our special teams players can't shed blocks or make the effort to tackle a returner, Rhys Lloyd is useless. If I were a special teams coach preparing to play the Panthers, I'd tell my return man to run every kick. Even if it's 8 yards into the end zone. No fair catches until the Panthers prove they can tackle. Our special teams have no attitude, discipline, or pride.

You dense or something? The only reason Lloyd is here is because our special teams is awful. Our special teams is bad enough without Kasay kicking it to the 20 yard line everytime.

If you were a coach and watched film of the 2009 Panthers. Would you not tell your kick returner to run every kick back. Even the ones that make it to the end zone? I sure as hell would. No fair catches. So having Lloyd kick them deep doesn't really matter until we learn to tackle. I'm not knocking Lloyd here. I'm stating how pathetic our st's are right now.

    • This.  Honest introspection on his behalf would have seen that size and strength were his biggest weaknesses. He looks no different. With the programs in the NFL, he could have come back to camp 10 lbs of muscle heavier. Easily. If had done so, it would have been reported on. It would have been the hottest story…. But we never saw anything of the sort, so it probably never happened.  He showed improvement this last game, likely from Andy’s tutelage. He has to show something VERY special to close the season out to change my thinking on him… like 4 game winning streak with a clutch 4th quarter comeback. Then maybe.
    • It absolutely is on him for doing it and I'd wager he used a good bit of that psychology major to help him through interviews because he could read people better than most. The Panthers should have recognized it for what it was, hell, we all did, but you can't absolve him just because everyone else does it.    38 Million guaranteed.
    • No Ikem vs the best pass rushing team in the NFL?  With no pocket for Bryce to step in to because of arguably the best interior DL in the NFL, Dexter Lawrence? Giants win comfortably IMO.  Look at how hype the Panthers were to win last week.  That was enough for them. The Panthers have struggled against mobile QBs this year too.  Guys who can extend the play.  Bo Nix, Marcus Mariota, Caleb Williams.  Panthers have struggled against all QBs this year to be honest, but those guys in particular did the best statistically.  Expect a big game from Danny Dimes, Nabers, and Tyrone.
