So I'm officially directing and producing a feature-length Vietnam War film

? no one's wearing those, they're all vietnam-era M1 helmets with mitchell pattern covers

It looks like there is a mix, but I suppose it could be how they're wearing it. The first black and white picture looks like a few PASGTs mixed in, but the next black and white picture (from behind) looks otherwise.

If not, I apologize. False alarm.

the only anachronism in the gear loadouts is anyone with a backpack. original P64 frames and jungle rucksacks are a good $500/set, so i'm having to take ALICE packs and rig them up on frames to look as similar as possible to the originals.

I second the guy who said you should tone down the rhetoric. Bashing on Stanley Kubrick, Oliver Stone, and Francis Ford Coppola isn't going to win you over any fans. Pretty much every Vietnam movie ever has pointed out how bad and morally ambiguous it was too.

Although my personal involvement was on the periphery, toward the end of the war the rhetoric had given way to the stories and lives of the individuals. Guys cared about each other and the common goal was to make sure the short-timers got home. The name of the game was survival and everyone leaned on each other for that support. "Hurt Locker" and "Jarhead," while of a different era, captured some of the personal struggles rather than deal almost exclusively with the politics.

i'm about 80% done with gear acquisitions, but the other 20% will go to rounding out the authenticity factor. i've got field-worn buttpacks coming in, vintage canteen holders, etc.

i'll also be getting everything properly faded and filthy prior to shooting principle photography on the film. this is just a teaser. also worth noting this particular sequence is set about three hours into a mission, after a week or so on base with plenty of time to wash clothes, so while gear will be worn and weapons will be scratched up, guys won't need to be dirty per se.

it'll all come together in time for the film.

i'm not bashing them. this is a common strategy for niche-market independent films trying to carve out a space in an existing pantheon of period films. it also helps with fundraising.

If you can write in any extended sex scenes with Ninjas... then I am your guy.

Think about it..the "War is Hell" theme is overplayed in most 'Nam movies.

What would stand out is a movie that explores the plight of war AND has a Ninja sex scene in it!!  It is truly the story that needs to be told.

just launched the teaser trailer! i shot and cut the entire thing myself, which is pretty much proof positive we need to get the budget to come through for a pro DP and production team, haha. still it's the best visual we've got so far.
