So I'm officially directing and producing a feature-length Vietnam War film

Thanks everyone! i'm offering cook perks in return for support (like film credits, opportunities to get on screen, machine guns, helmets, and inert authentic vietnam-era grenades) so hit me up if you're interested. this is a legacy film for people interested in military history and representation in poplar culture, so it's gonna ultimately get made by people generously pitching a few bucks at it.

for the business-minded, there's lucrative investment packages... i've got distribution contracts pitched at me already, so it wouldn't take much up front to get a hefty return

to be completely honest i'm not sure if i'll take him on even if we meet the financing requirements to fulfill his quote. he won't audition (granted most A-listers don't) and i'm not sold on his persona for the part. i may pursue other actors his caliber in the meantime (i have my eye on stephen lang, and michael c. hall actually, although he might be too monotonic.)

but at the end of the day it's a ringing endorsement of the script. i didn't think i'd hear back, but his agent said he read through the entire thing and said he wanted to take the part. 99% of independent films can't even get an agent to respond to an email, let alone get an A-lister to read script sides.

I vote Michael C. Hall, or someone with a similar feel. Stephen Lang is great, but he's done the crazed military guy bit in Avatar, and I've heard he's been lobbying pretty hard for the role of Cable in the Deadpool sequel. Michael C. Hall's monotonic delivery would be very unsettling.

Whatever you decide, best of luck! Happy to hear you're making it happen.

Congrats and good luck

Would tell you about my time in Vietnam, I left there with a limp.

No worries, it was 2011 and a buddy told me to get a foot massage at a place beside my hotel.  Think I was the only white guy in the place and the woman about crippled me.

I don't want to talk about it.

I should've looked for this thread a long time ago when I found out about this. I'm a moron. I know everyone on here isn't an All Pro and throwing $5 a month at Igo is too much for some. But there is a funding page that you can go to and try and help him get this thing going. I was going to go to Black Sabbath but things got messed up so now I think I'm just gonna donate that paltry sum to Philly to get this thing done.

Also always available to talk about military mindsets whenever you want Philly. We need to have some beers with your actors. Wait...does this mean you aren't coming up for the Redskins game?

thanks man, you don't have to do that... but we'll get you film creds as a back for sure if you do!

i'm in the final rounds of casting the film now and then we'll plan a trip up to talk to you guys. we're developing a promotional tour to do fundraising for this thing, so we may end up in your direction anyway! as for the redskins... that's really hard to say. all my finances are going towards this thing right now, which is why i canceled my LA plans. but if i can an away game happen it'll either be skins or new years bucs

almost finished building our M60 system. we'll need an authentic flash suppressor before we start shooting, but other than that it's a go. mostly metal, working bipod assembly, ladder sight, chambering action. i was able to scrounge up some inert .762 ammo belts as well, which will really add to the feel.

    • I want to throw in how much easier it is for a QB to develop and improve with a good oline.  Huge credit to the front office for spending the money on our two guards.  Cade Mays also had a 2nd really good game starting at center.  Love how he has developed and hope he's the real deal. Look at what Stroud is dealing with now in Houston after injuries and problems with their oline.  Strouds accuracy has been greatly affected as it seems like he doesn't trust his protection. Canales is doing a great job developing Bryce.  I think the QB whisperer might be for real. And obviously big props to Bryce.  First round pick that looks horrible in his first year.  Different coaches and systems.  Fans and media are calling him the biggest bust in NFL history and he looked like it in the first two games this year.  Gets benched.  Young man keep his cool and just continued to work and only worry about what he can control.  I hope things continue like this and we end up with a great success story. Bryce Young kept pounding.
    • Outside of Philly (who currently is #3 in pass defense) the rest of our remaining opponents are bottom 1/3 of the League in that regard.  Let's see what Bryce can do versus bad pass Ds.
