I've reflected on my initial post about it, and I still agree. This is still up there with ESB for me, too. I still list ANH as the third best, just because it was the original and the fact that the transition from R1 to ANH now is so well done. TFA was really good, too. I think it'd be hard for anyone to argue, though, that if someone was watching Star Wars for the first time, you could easily go TPM, R1, ANH, ESB, ROTJ, TFA and not have probably the best film series in movie history. Heck, you could exclude the prequel trilogy altogether and start with R1 for all I care, and this would still probably be true. I only included it to give a little pre-Vader canon...

I agree but I would suggest RotS over TPM, skip 1 & 2 altogether :)

TPM is probably the worst in franchise imo

RotS, R1, ANH, ESB, ROTJ, TFA... That's what I meant... for continuity...

Yeah, the prequels are a blight on the greatness of this story.  Maybe Disney can retcon them and redo some prequel stories. :)

Great movie, saw it twice.

It does have a darker feel to it and the final battle scene at Scariff is the best battle scene in all of Star Wars.

The reason why this movie is different from other SW films is that aside from Vader's 2 minutes of tearing poo up, the absence of Jedi was glaring.

I've always wanted a SW movie without Jedi or Skywalkers so this made me really happy. The blind monk guy was a great addition. In the Marvel Star Wars comics, one of the earliest had an old guy who was crazy and thought he was a Jedi, unfortunately they named him Don-Wan Kihotay. And put a giant green rabbit in too.

But the SW "legacy" books and such had several non Jedi characters that used, or worshipped, the Force without all the goody goody stuff and it worked great.

People hate Ewoks?

Think I'm doing this whole Star Wars thing wrong and if that's the case then I don't want to be right!

Leave it to you...  did I type the word hate?  Nooooo...

They were silly... and unnecessary imo.  Like JarJar... I still have no idea why he was included.  Lucas just always had that one silly character "light hearted" moment and often they came across to me as overly dumb.

If RoTS was the only prequel there would be very few complaints about prequels
