Hardy?

What I've got are Dave Gettleman's comments about not needing a time bomb, our own forum owner (who actually does have inside access) confirming repeatedly that Hardy is not gonna be back, numerous other sources saying the same thing and most important of all the fact that Greg Hardy is still unemployed and the team is making no effort to reach out to him or rehab his image.

You want Hardy back, I get that, but a pipe dream conspiracy theory and/or a letter writing campaign aren't gonna make it happen.

Hardy has done too much damage to himself to ever be brought back here. He had a great chance to show his worth and he blew it. And no, that isn't the Cowboys' fault, Nicole Holder's fault, Jerry Richardson's fault, the Illuminati's fault or anyone else's fault but Greg Hardy's. He is literally his own worst enemy.

He's gone and were gonna roll with what we've got. If we do sign a veteran, it won't be Hardy.

Accept it. You'll save yourself a lot of disappointment.

The time bomb was vital in winning the 2013 NFCS and helped win the Tampa game and therefore division in 2014 as well.

I respect this site and it's owner.  But as anyone knows things are fluid.  10 days ago no one knew how awful Delaire would be, no one knew that a white kicker who's been on 5 teams since 2003, currently in the largest market, would be found to have 20+ DV incidents, the league knowing, and only getting one game.  Tyreek Hill, Manny Lawson, etc., these names weren't even in the mix months ago.

The most feared defender in league history, the previously mentioned LT, said there was a direct correlation between his reckless off the field behavior, and actual production on the field.

So Hardy Jr's story forges on.  Whether signed or whether he continues therapy, school, mentoring kids, running camps, staying in shape, and becoming a bargain 29 year old FA next year.

He may be, but it won't be for us.

And it doesn't matter how many other guys you bring up. It doesn't make Hardy look any better.

If it's New England, Seattle, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, etc. I hope the same Panther fans here and in BOA in August 2014 cheering him on are happy.

I think Hardy is almost totally lacking in self-awareness.

A lot of us have known that one friend who thinks he's cool and doesn't understand why people don't like him / avoid him. Hardy is that guy.

Some people are just clueless. Most people learn humility, and that actions have consequences pretty early in life. Unfortunately, Hardy, and plenty of others, never got the memo. I guess it's from that "I'm untouchable" coddling they got growing up.

If you think that makes no sense, do you have a brain ?

The only world cutting a All-Pro CB makes sense in a year we're contenders is a world in which you replace the All-Pro CB with an All-Pro DE

How honestly does that not fuging make sense ?

I truly wish you would quit saying this year is a SuperB owl or bust year when referring to the Panthers. The way this team is built. Our window is damm near door sized. If you really feel our window is that small, you may want to pay a little bit more attention.

But, considering you think Hardy would damm near ensure that SuperB owl victory. I may be asking for something that just does not exist.

People (that don't have a clue) say the same about our QB.  Many say the same about virtually all pro athletes.

Wasn't there a recent article about TD (a Hardy Jr advocate), Kalil, etc. feeling the urgency to win it all now?  Of course it's Super Bowl or bust.

And doing a swap for Horton or Delaire would significantly increase the odds.  Duh.

Why yes there was just an article where TD, and Kalil talked about the urgency to win a Championship. BUT, they were talking about their personal careers coming to an end. Not the teams window closing. So you were half right. But it was a nice try slanting it towards your stance.

You and that hammer kid seem to be under the impression that this team isn't built to compete for the foreseeable future. Not just the immediate future, but being set up for long term success. C'mon, join the party. It won't hurt.....much. Just because we won't have Hardy does not mean we aren't a great team.

As long as we have Cam, we are legitimate SuperB owl contenders. Ha!!!!

Not really sure what Horton and Delaire have to do with this? And what odds are you referring to? Making a trade for both? Who could you possibly get for those two? Confused I am.

After the 2013 Cardinals game and 1-3 start, I said I wouldn't trade Cam for anyone in the history of football, that he was the Michael Jordan of football, that we were embarking on the greatest dynasty of the salary cap era, and that Cam and Luke were the only sure things for this franchise over the next decade.

Like TD who called the Hardy Jr situation "too raw to talk about", I simply have peeled back fact after fact after hypocritical fact in the Hardy Jr situation that the uninformed, sheep, or non-Panther fans simply don't want to hear or don't care.  It's insane.  The league literally cost us $13+ million and a MUCH better shot at Super Bowl 49 based on forces that occurred FAR away from Charlotte.  That's not to say Hardy Jr is perfect, he is not, and has admitted such.  But the punishment has obviously not fit the thrown out like yesterday's trash crime.  Technically, the league even cost us a better chance at an undefeated season and Super Bowl last year, because not only was Hardy Jr forced out for 17 games, the $13+ million was lost and couldn't even be rolled over to help with last year's club, and as we know in this game of inches that's a TON of money for GMan that could have been used to put us over the top in either year.

Now here we are, again, with this man now not facing any suspension and available at a crazy low minimum cost-the league, media, and/or Debbie DoGooder's are strong arming a gun shy owner from ok'ing a legitimate return of a professional football player to where he belongs, a move which even a blind man could see would help make this football team one of the best ever.  It's mind numbing how many clueless, supposedly informed Panther fans there are that are ok with what has happened, bending over for the shield and other 31 like this.

And yes, an even trade for Delaire or Horton for a hungry 28 year old DE with All-Pro talent is exactly what I'm saying.  For equal money, Hardy Jr signs, and it's sayonara, au revoir, best of luck, see you when the cows come home for Horton/Delaire.

I realize you are angry. Most Panther fans are too. The circumstances behind Hardy's last year here are a thorn in everyones' side. But most people have moved on. Taken their medicine, and rolled with the punch. Sure they are upset with the NFL for how they handled the situation, as well as the media. They are upset that JR and the Panthers caved to public opinion. And they are upset that Hardy could let them down by being such a selfish turd.

However, citing other players and their transgressions does nothing to lessen the pain. In the NFL, not every crime gets the same punishment. Hardy just had really really bad timing. It sucks to think that this whole mess could have played out differently had it happened at a different time. But who knows.

That said, none of that makes one iota of difference. Hardy had a chance to rehabilitate his image last year. In Dallas of all places. And couldn't do it. And the price of his failure to control himself is that he may quite possibly be out of the league. No one trusts him anymore. If you can't make it in Dallas?

Sure we could probably use Greg, a lot of teams could. But, I would put the chances Hardy ever plays in the NFL at 5%. And 0% it is with the Panthers.

Our core is essentially Cam and Luke. You could argue we have the best player in the NFL on both sides of the ball.

Are we trying to win a Suprr Bowl? Yeah. Are we willing to take dumb risks because we think we are in a 1-2 year window to win it all? NOPE.  We are building a decade type window.  That is when you built smart and you part with the 89s, Normans or whoever could be a ruffle.  Window is too big to take unneeded risks and mess with the flow.

Out of interest, and because I'm not going to go back and read this abortion of a thread, are there more than 3 different people on this board who believe

a) that it would not be a terrible idea to sign Hardy up, and

b) that there's any chance in hell Gettleman and JR in particular would even consider it?

Seems that only ctrcat and HC are the real cheerleaders but, yes, plenty of people in this thread have made it clear that it would give them great joy if the Panthers signed Greg Hardy.

That would be ctrcat and HC only.  Their drugs must be good drugs.

JR and GMan don't seem like the message board types, and NO ONE knows the words exchanged in their recent Hardy Jr conversation(s).  But never forget they did let Hardy Jr play at Tampa in September 2014.

GMan has said before (the 89 situation) that situations are "fluid".  If so, then recent months have NOT hurt the chances.  Not signing/drafting a DE, awful DE play, Hardy Jr being the model citizen of the quarter, etc.
