I would love to see Hardy back in a Panthers uni. I think we are one of the few places he could find success plus we have seen what he is capable of in our system (win-win).

PR wise I don't feel like it would be that big of a deal. Like others have said, start of the season is right around the corner plus its an election year so plenty of other stuff to keep his signing from becoming national news. I'd expect a few days of pius articles and TV spots before they realize the public largely doesn't care.

To me the biggest thing holding a Hardy signing back is the potential for future problems and/or messing up the locker room environment they have worked to create.

If a signing happens the most likely time would be after contracts are guaranteed.

Good point about election year.  I truly believe this would make our locker room even stronger.  Us against the world.  For anyone that pretends they care, where were they yesterday in Kansas City when Trevone Boykin and Tyreek Hill made their debuts?

Wow, all these months and people still think we lost the sb because of the defense. I know it's hard to believe, but Hardy would not helped, he sure didn't on Thanksgiving.. oh yeah, I went there.

It's like Oher and Matsko. He's back with the coach who actually helped draft him and now he's Michael Oher again all of a sudden and not out of the league because of Tennessee.

I see a new person has entered the Greg hardy circle jerk

I want this franchise to win a SuperBowl before Jerry retires.

The Hardy situation was a mass media jerk off, nothing more.

They could frame the story anyway they want and some people will chant along.

Dude, you made his point. We LOST

The question would have been is Hardy>Jared Allen, DeLaire, Cox, Miley, or Horton? Could there have been more pressure on Manning somewhat like the pressure the WINNING team applied to Cam?

First I'd say, if we're talking football on this here site, yeah Hardy>>better than all those pieces. Him Charles Johnson and Ealy and a couple of those guys would be quite formidable.

Besides, he does owe the organization. Let him pay it off

Um...Carolina's defense played great against Manning/Denver.  In reality it was a pretty dominant defensive performance. Hardy would have been in for Ealy and no....Hardy would not of performed better.

We lost the game largely because we put a practice squad pickup RT one on one  vs Von Miller over and over.

Could also argue the fact we didn't have a RB that could be consistent in our scheme when 28 wasn't ready hurt too

there are tons of reasons from RT, to RB depth to special teams blunders why we lost the SB.

DE play was very good. One of the best all season.  So no, the Super Bowl doesn't make a case for needing Hardy

If he was on THAT team would the defense have been better against Manning and perhaps have changed the tone of the game? Like Von Miller?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then we're doomed.  Cancel Christmas and pack up shop since not only did we not pick up an OT in FA or the draft, but our biggest FA AND 1st rounder were DT's!!!

Yeah that's why we took a DT in the 1st, a defensive player with the first 4 picks, and brought in a slew of top DE's for visits.  We didn't need help on D right?

Yet another silly little person who thinks that DG spends 1st round picks on NEED.

And, amazingly enough, DG didn't pick a DE in either the 2015 or 2016 drafts.  Absolutely ODD for a team so desperate for DEs as you say.  Obviously, the General Manager disagrees with you.
