No negotiations during the REGULAR SEASON. There is still time. A few contracts have gotten done when the preseason games were underway.

Not surprised, I wouldnt break the bank for him. He's good but not worth 100 mil to me.

Kuechly was signed like 3-4 days before our first regular season game.  

Gettleman will negotiate up till the season starts.  This is the preseason.

also peep KK's age- already 27 will be 28 by the end of this season and 29 by the end of the franchise year-----around that time most players have passed their prime. 

 

Last year + this year + next year- are probably going to be KK's three best years playing football

Nothing personal I'm sure. Maybe 'business hate'. No agent with a high profile, top of the heap player like Josh or KK is gonna like Gman. Unlike some other GM's, he won't go for a sky high contract because the player wants to be the highest paid at his position.

Ken Lucas signed here because DG told him that KK and Norman would be on the roster, and he could play some backup TE, when Olsen needed a breather.....now that KK is playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Norman has retired, Lucas is PISSED.

I saw him yesterday in Cheese Mo'z talking to Cam, and they were talking about tearing up their contracts and going to play in Dallas where they can be reunited with Deion Sanders, and the greatest GM of all time Jerry Jones.

We will win exactly 4 more games total, until Gettleman is fired, and we sign Kris Jenkins to a new long term contract so Smitty will come back, bring Hurney with him, and take the gold.

I hear that Hardy is converting to DT and taking KK's spot anyway, so it's no big.

I'm not sure why fans think a young player performing well gives a team a "bargaining tool" with a vet set to become a free agent. That young guy may impact the vet's value to his current team, but it has zero impact on that vet's market value in free agency. The vet isn't suddenly going to take less money because the team has a promising young talent who plays his position. His value for the other 31 remaining teams is completely unaffected by that.

Like a lot of starters for the Panthers, defensive tackle Kawann Short wasn’t in Thursday’s exhibition opener at M&T Bank Stadium long enough to do much. Any key developments with Short this summer will take place off the field.

While there’s been no indication a contract extension is imminent, Short told the Observer after the game the two sides continue to talk. Whether much progress has been made is another story.

After his 11-sack, Pro Bowl season in 2015, Short wants to be paid like one of the best defensive tackles in the league. That market was reset this summer when the Eagles’ Fletcher Cox and the Jets’ Muhammad Wilkerson received new deals averaging $17 million a year.

The Panthers appear unwilling to go that high. And general manager Dave Gettleman has demonstrated (see Norman, Josh) he’s OK with using the franchise tag rather than engaging in a bidding war – and then pulling said tag if necessary.

To his credit, Short has taken the high road publicly and not told the world how much he’s worth. He’s set to make a little more than $1 million this season, but his payday is coming – with the Panthers or elsewhere.
