a Multi-Fight Deal with Strikeforce...

It has been confirmed by Strikeforce brass that the San Jose-based organization has inked former NCAA and NFL

great Herschel Walker to a multi-fight deal.

Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz confirmed the signing with MMAFanhouse earlier today.

The 47-year-old may have retired from professional football back in 1997, however you would be hard pressed to find a better conditioned athlete anywhere on the planet, regardless of age.

As recently as November 20th of 2006, Walker stated on The Jim Rome Show that he still performs 2,500 sit-ups and 1,500 push ups every morning, and that he’s been partaking in the same routine every morning since high school.

Walker has studied martial artist for quite some time, and is currently a sixth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He stated at last month’s “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” event that he would like to try his hand at the pro world of MMA someday, however most took that in jest.

Herschel wouldn’t be the first NFL vet to compete in MMA as four former NFL players were cast for the current 10th season of “The Ultimate Fighter. ” Additionally, former wide receiver Michael Westbrook, Johnnie Morton, Rex Richards and Herbert “Whisper” Goodman have competed in organizations across the country.

Although there is no word on when Walker might be making his debut inside a cage, it’s likely that the former Heisman Trophy winner’s first fight won’t be until early 2010.

    • Losing Derrick Brown last year was devasting to the defense, however, I also think losing Luvu was too.  I like the focus on the D-line during free agency and the draft, however, I would like to see the Panthers pick up a few more LB to battle it out during camp.  I still don't think this is a position of strength.
    • NFL analysts confirm Panthers GM Dan Morgan committed draft larceny Dan Morgan had a decent collection of picks during the 2025 NFL Draft. That doesn’t always guarantee success, but the Carolina Panthers general manager emerged from his second selection process with significant credit. Morgan played his draft board masterfully. He struck with conviction when opportunities arose, and brought high-character individuals into the organization who should fit seamlessly into head coach Dave Canales’ culture shift. Each draft pick and undrafted free agent must prove themselves in an NFL setting, but fans were thrilled with the haul. (As seen on Bluesky, but those embeds aren't working here yet 🙂   _ https://bsky.app/profile/rawnfl.bsky.social/post/3lnxnosfzju2d source: https://www.rawchili.com/nfl/10067/
