Cam is Not a Top Tier QB...

He had a tier 1 season, no doubt. Rodgers, Brees, and Brady have had MULTIPLE tier 1 seasons. I think Cam is on the cusp of being tier 1. Do it two years in a row and he's no doubt tier 1. 1 year does not make you perpetually elite. Look at Daunte Culpepper in '04 as an example.

So all those record breaking years prior to last year don't count? I'm not saying he's been perfect and no one is but it wasn't JUST last year that was great.

Come on dude. Take your homer glasses off for a second. I'm not saying I would replace Cam or take another QB over him (Dats my QB *sniff), but he hadn't been all that consistent up until last year. He's shown flashes as a young up and coming QB, which is what he is, but last year is the first time he put it all together and it was scary good. He's been second tier for a couple years now, now he's on the cusp about to make the jump to tier one with more years like this past one. Multiple years that show consistent dominance and you are tier 1, in my book at least.

I'm simply saying that every year he broke the Rookie records, then the 2 years records and so on. Obviously Luck came behind him and broke those. But to say a record breaking QB who was setting NFL records every year and then last year, as you say, puts it all together isn't a Tier 1 QB? That's not homer glasses that's being objective.

Now we may be arguing about Tier 2+ and Tier 1- and so there isn't really much to argue about. But you make it sound like it's ludicrous for some to consider him a Tier 1 QB and then chastising those who think it's ludicrous that you say he's a Tier 2 QB. I'm making the argument that it's rational to see him as a Tier 1 QB.

However, this entire argument is moot since people's opinions of him (especially ours) doesn't mean much. But the OP was about people in the league. Besides Tier 1 and Tier 2 are pretty nebulous terms anyways.

Cam's basically been carrying the offense on his back since he was drafted.

@Cookie Lyon I'll tell you who it is.

I'll tell you EXACTLY who it is.

Remember Nolan Nawrocki's draft analysis on Cam? "Disingenuous... fake smile... me-first... non-trustworthy... fake..."

Remember that? Well, as much as Nawrocki's analysis was over the top and innaccurate, I never for one second thought he had made it up out of whole cloth.  HE GOT HIS INFO FROM NFL GM'S AND SCOUTS.

And now, here, five full seasons later, Cam has EMBARRASSED THE FUG OUT OF THOSE IDIOTS.

And BECAUSE they've been made to look like idiots by Cam, Cookie, those GMs and scouts WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM FOR IT.

Now you know (as the late, great Paul Harvey would say), the REST of the story.

I think it's kind of silly that we're getting worked up over semi anonymous rankings. It's dumb, preseason poo.

Cam keeps getting better, has carried this team, and has only gotten better. They want to point out that he had a first half of last season that was rough, well remember he was trying to play without Benji...he has to break in Ginn and Philly as starters...let that sink it.

Fug those haters. I can understand that point that Cam is only in his 6th season. I think gets it on how to get better as a QB. We're good.

Didn't want to start a thread, but fwiw serial dumbass troll Mark James is guest hosting the Jim Rome Show on CBS sports radio and has spent the first hour railing on Cam for not diving on the ball during the Super Bowl and questioning his want to win.

I really wish I hadn't read this.

When things aren't going well, that is when he makes mistakes. He has bad energy for the team, he sucks the life out of it. He is a manic quarterback. But as long as his defense performs, as long as big plays are made that bail him out, that will always re-energize him."

Examples: Seattle (2015), New England (2013), Saints (2013), Giants (2015)

And like 14 or 15 other 4th quarter comebacks prove that this statement is false.

Somebody said a few years ago that Cam Newton would become the Micheal Jordan or Lebron James of the NFL. I think so far their prediction is going in the right direction, if Cam keeps this up he's going to be right up there with Peyton, Brady, and Farvre as far as everything goes. Passing Yardage and Touchdowns. One thing that cannot be argued though, we'll never see an Athlete like Cam Newton ever again probably. He's going to have an absurd amount of rushing TD's, and Yardage by the end of his career.
