Peppers cannot win at the line all by himself. I saw Brown in there quite a bit and he seemed like he was working also but has to improve before he is a true pass rush threat like we need. But that aside Peppers is out there almost alone when it comes to generating pressure and without someone in the middle collapsing the pocket so that the QB can't step up to avoid the edge rush there is little he is going to be able to do even if he works harder than ever before.

So that is even more evidence it was a horrible move to give him that much money.

Not necessarily...

Hopefully, the plan is to build around him.. We've already got Brown, and we should delve into the DT market next offseason... especially considering the current state of affairs...

Letting Kris Jenkins get away was one of the dumbest moves Marty Hurney has ever made...

Peppers did NOTHING yesterday. He didn't apply pressure, he didn't re-direct, he barely made a tackle. He was worthless. I see more of these games from Peppers than vice versa. You nut huggers need to get past all the hype and actually watch him play. It's pathetic.

I love how the Peppers haters in this thread talk about Peppers like they know him.

I'll go back to this, 70 sacks in 7 seasons - an average right up there with Strahan and Bruce Smith. I don't know how you take plays off and still manage to get an average of 10 sacks per year (hint, it's not possible).

Peppers didn't decide to pay himself 17 million, the team did - so don't hold that against him. If Peppers attitude and salary were the source of chemistry problems on the defense then I doubt they would have voted him captain.

Peppers is a great athlete, but that doesn't mean he's never gonna have a bad game or get beat. You want to be angry at someone, be angry @ Meeks and Fox... you can't rush just 4 anymore in this league, that's part of why Peppers wanted out.

Stats don't define a caliber of player as Julius Peppers...

Look at the talent pool around him compared to all the other teams you're all comparing him to...

Ask any coach in the league who the top 3 Defensive playmaykers are in the league, and I guarantee you at least 80% of them would mention Peppers...

how is that more important than actual performance?

we should have traded this guy. I was saying it all offseason but the huddle seemed convinced we were a better team with him on the squad. We may be better, but we're not $17 million better...

So for those defending Pep.

What should a weekly stat line look like?

From Richard Seymour in week 1 after spending a WEEKEND with the Raiders has a huge game. In other words, he got to the qb.

Dude from the Bengals. Bengals!!. Got to Rodgers.

Pep is talented AND indifferent. That's a coach killer right there.

Look at the # of Cowboys yest that either tipped the ball or got hurries.

And someone mentioned Gamble not being mentioned.

Well start a thread on it because he is as useful as a phone with a cord nowadays.

Pep had a monster week 1 too like Seymour but then Seymour only got 3 tackles in week 2. So I guess Seymour sucks now too?

The guy from the Bengals had more sacks in 1 game than some guy from the Raiders in 1968. So I guess every other DE in the league sucks compared to him eh?

Sorry Pep isn't getting 10 sacks and 15 tackles every game like alot of you all expect and keep bitching about his contract. My advise is just get over it.

I'm sorry, I can't take your opinion seriously with that Cowher avatar, you really think Cowher is our savior? How long did Cowher toil in Pittsburgh before winning that championship? How long did it take Pittsburgh to find a replacement and win another championship?

So the nut huggers tell the haters that sacks aren't everything. And now you're using sacks to tell me how great he is? Not buyin it homey! Peppers isn't consistent. He might get 10 sacks per year, but he gets 3 sacks against Oakland and 2 sacks against Kansas City, etc. I don't care if he gets 30 sacks a year. The dude doesn't bring it every play of every game.
