40 mil guaranteed after 30 starts and two major knee injuries in the last 3 seasons? The good stories around Tyrann Mathieu have proved a lot more valuable than his actual production. One of the most overrated players in the league and I'm sick of hearing about him just because he stopped smoking weed.

So is he or is he not one of the better safeties in football? If you feel like he's a top safety then he got paid accordingly, plus he's the heart of that defense. And out of those top safeties he's  probably the only one that could produce at corner. I wasn't a huge fan of his coming out and I thought it was foolish to struggle with weed in the first place but good for him to be a positive example of players getting there poo together.  Him and Von Miller.

Statistically he's not close to the top safety in the NFL. Plus he's not proven he can stay on the field for a whole season and yet he's probably one of the most talked about players in the NFL and hes been given one of the highest guaranteed defensive contracts out there. I might be missing something but I don't get the fascination.

they definitely overpaid.  I don't give a poo about the total but 40m guaranteed is overpaying him by a good bit.
