Why do opposing fan bases and fans think the Panthers don't pay their players?

I don't get this fallacy at all.  I've talked to many fans of other teams stating "you guys let Norman go, that's going to be a mistake.  Should've paid him."  or "Letting Smitty go was dumb, because you guys wanted to be cheap."

Do you guys understand where this poo comes from?  They always think the Panthers let their players go, and don't pay them "like they should."

Because people are stupid. They don't understand why the teams that paid Drew Brees, Calvin Johnson, and Phillip Rivers "like they should" can't seem to make the playoffs anymore.

And with regard to Norman, and I've said this before, it's just a case of the casual fan having a short memory. He was here 4 years and only had one really good one. The Panthers went 12-4 in 2013 with Norman on the bench. The "how will letting Norman walk affect the defense" off-season narrative is really starting to get on my nerves. We almost completely replaced our secondary three years in a row, and we've made the playoffs three years in a row. Just let that poo ride.

The way to early Word out of Skins TC is josh is struggling, hate it for him I'll always root for him to succeed but validation for Gman just keeps on coming....

This is also what killed me.  I told him that, and the guy goes on a rant about how we'll regret that this year.  I was just dumbfounded.

Because they don't understand football, the cap, draft vs. free agency, and long term planning.

You get your QB, shore up the trenches, give the QB some weapons, and keep some cap flexibility, and you have a shot at the playoffs almost every single year.

Teams overpay players that are too far from the football all the time, we have chosen not to.

There are a fair number of people that don't get it and probably never will.

Doesn't matter, though.

This team is currently on the best run of success it's ever had. Three straight NFC South titles in a division where no one ever even went back to back before, topped off last year by a season where we went 15-1 - our best record ever - and made it to the Super Bowl, and the potential for plenty more to come...

If you're still whining and b--ching in the middle of that, you're probably just an idiot.

So to "that guy", while you're sitting there pissing and moaning about that player you liked that we didn't sign or that got let go, the rest of us will be having a blast enjoying the team's success.

Sucks to be you.

Well part of it is we have a great GM who knows when and when not to pay.

We also have a great team culture. Players buy in and want to win for eachother and Mr. Richardson. So they take deals that pay them reasonably well but arent completely overrated contracts.

I know some fans that say we haven't done anything worth being happy about yet.  And they also bad mouth Gettleman and his management style

Last season was the most fun I've ever had as a Panthers fan.

If someone couldn't enjoy that, I'd tell them to go find another team.

There are fans that consider every season without an SB win an abject failure devoid of anything positive or enjoyable.

People seriously lack a higher understanding of the game of football and I catch myself getting worked up arguing with idiots who just truly don't get it
