Training Camp Parking

Was wondering what the parking situation is like this year at camp? Heard it was going to be a mess because of all the construction. I'm planning on going tomorrow morning. Any advice is appreciated!

We have worked hard to make it as easy as possible. We have free shuttles from Spartanburg memorial auditorium parking lot and St. John St. parking deck (free parking too). Shuttles start running two hours before practice and run two hours after. Monday likely won't be as crowded as the weekend has been, but even when we had 22,455 for the first practice, things ran smoothly and I heard no complaints about parking. Actually we have gotten compliments.

There are parking lots open on campus too, right?

Yes. The closest lots, across from the stadium, are accessible via Pearl Street from Pine or Church. Cumming and Evins streets are closed except for shuttle buses  (open following practice to exit). Twitty Street (the previous entrance from Pine) is closed except for handicap shuttle. Go to the Panthers training camp page and check the directions and map links.

Shuttle worked great Thursday night.  I live in Spartanburg,  thinking I might just stick with the shuttle on future practices.

Is that Pearl to Edgewood and wind your way into the parking lots? What time do you have to get there by to have a spot in A, which seems like the biggest lot? I'll be there with two of my boys and I'd like to get there as early as possible to get as many autographs for them as possible. Do players sign pre-practice or mainly after practice?

Yes, Pearl to Edgewood, winding through the back way to the parking lots (they will be open at the end of practice to exit). I really can't predict what time to be here to park there. A and B would be open, so that's a good number of parking spaces. I'd say an hour to an hour and a half before practice -- really depends on the crowd, of course. We are seeing lots of people, but it may die down during the weekday. School here (k-12) doesn't start until Aug. 15, so it may not slow down much. Shuttles start running 2 hours before practice starts, so you'd get there in plenty of time. While some players might sign before practice, that's few and far between. Most signing happens after practice.

I took my mom for the first time, who is a huge Panthers fan. Parking was awful, most times I have gotten pretty close and the walk was just fine but maybe I went on the wrong street.. Some kid put us in Lot D and had to walk pretty much across campus, down and up hills in sweltering heat. I felt really bad for my mother.. she was soaked and trooped through it but probably will never come again.

We kept passing empty parking spots and each one killed me, for her. There was no where even on the Panthers website to say what was allowed, coolers, umbrellas ect. I had to find a old thread from 2009 (7 years ago fam) to get any kind of idea what was allowed in.. Because for sure we werent trying to bring anything we couldnt take in after that long ass walk. It fuging sucked plain and simple. Maybe Ill look around for another street next time, or look for other signs.. but we made it after a 30 minute walk. Sweated our asses off and cheered for our team.

I'm very sorry you had a difficult time, especially your mom. You should have been directed to one of the closer lots first, rather than Lot D. Any empty or near empty lots, except for the ones specified in the map on the website, would be those used by either Panthers staff or Wofford staff who are working, so they must be reserved.

I would suggest for anyone who cannot walk distances to park in one of the shuttle lots and take the bus. The drop off is the closest you can get to the spectator entrance. (If someone has a valid handicap placard, they should park in Lot K and ride the handicap shuttle. That's actually the closest you can get, because the drop off is at the top of Twitty Street right outside the spectator entrance.)

We did work very hard to try to plan parking, traffic and shuttle services to be as convenient as possible under the circumstances. Again, I'm very sorry you had a bad experience.

Beginning with Wednesday's practice, a shuttle bus will pick up people parking in Lots C and D, as well as E, or other pedestrians on Evins Street near Church so they will not have to walk so far. There's a sign there in front of Wofford's Michael S. Brown Village Center/The Space.

Thanks again for the assistance. We parked in the front row of lot A, so right in front, which was really nice. Got there early and asked how to get to A (first guy sent us to C then I went back out to Pearl). My boys had a great time, got some autographs and one of James Bradberry's gloves he threw to my youngest. Going to go early again tomorrow and camp out in the good spots for autographs. We were there in the morning and got Ealy on all 3 balls (I brought on for my middle son who had to stay at home) and just missed Kuechly (got him on 2 balls later). I knew Ealy would sign since he wasn't practicing.

I'm glad you had a good experience. Where did you come onto campus from, Pine or Church? I need to make sure those guys are sending people to Lot C before A and B are full. That's too long a walk to have to take that may be unnecessary (though as I said above, the shuttle has started stopping on Evins near C and D to pick up pedestrians so they won't have to walk). I need to get them straightened out!

Sounds like your boys and you made some good memories.

We went in on Church and first went in Evins, but when I asked about A, he sent me to C and the girls there said he's mixed up so they sent me back. We were about to turn back left on to Evins, but a cop just got there and turned us away. I then just went Pearl as you told me and the lady guided us right to A and it was very easy. I'm just going to go Church to Pearl tomorrow as I originally planned and ended up doing anyway.

Was the guy who told you to go to C on Evins or at C? He was an EPI guy (with a yellow vest on)?
