Don't waste your breath responding logical statements to him.

It truly is a waste of time and energy.

I knew Coleman wouldn't be a problem to sign. That's what's so great about this organization these days. Players want to be here.

RBs are plug and play in this league. You don't spend money on them like years ago.

That's why the offense runs so smoothly when Stewart is out.

In all seriousness, I'm not saying that we have to have a top-paid RB at all times, but I think Panther fans have been a bit spoiled by the RB talent we've had for years now. It's not as difficult to find as an LT or DE but not quite as easy as plug and play any guy off the street.

Our offense was top in the league last year and we ran more than 80% of the league. Besides Stewarts ridiculous pay and the fact he can't stay healthy we have 3 good RBs. Running the ball is more about the line than the back. The RB needs to be competent but in this league of pass happy offenses you face much smaller defensive players.

There are 5 (as of now) really good RBs likely coming out (Fournette, Cook, McCaffery, Chubb and Clement). I saw some other RBs listed as well, but the WalterFootball site seems to have some good reviews on prospects. While it's way too early, it appears that the 2017 draft will be deep at good RBs and DEs. No idea if DG is watching that, but it would coincide with saving a lot of cap $$$ on Stewart and getting a future stud RB as well as replacing Charles Johnson. One of the first 4 top tier RBs could end up being available for us at pick 32. Anyone think it might be fun to see Cam hand off to Cook or Chubb?

None of the above.  Jalen Hurd at 6'4, 240, 4.57, who runs like Adrian Peterson lite, with the last pick of the 2nd, is the dream scenario.

Stew's pay is high but apart from 2012 and 2013 he has appeared in 13 or more games every season and been healthy enough to play at a high level. We're pretty far off topic here but I disagree that Fozzy and Cap (at least not yet) are anywhere near Stew's level. Stew had almost 1/4 of his yards after contact (88 carries with 3 or more yards after contact per PFF stats) and had 242 carries last year, so he basically was the non-CAM running game. Carolina's OL is good and the interior is strong, but the tackles, TEs, and FB are all average-or-worse run blockers. Perhaps things will continue to change as you describe, but until that happens the reality is that Carolina's offense significantly benefits from (and perhaps is somewhat built around) having an RB who can consistently break tackles, and those aren't as common.

On topic and unrelated to the quote, I'll be very interested to see the contract numbers. Glad that he's staying around.

I love the tape on Chubb.  He fits our offensive very well.  Hope he's completely healthy.

Also, Hood out of UNC may come if he has a big year, which is very likely.
