Why the Giants will lose. Seriously!

The Giants have done pretty well for themselves this season, but they have not faced a team like the Carolina Panthers. They have not faced one single team that is as complete as the Panthers are on both sides of the football.

Their toughest competitor has been the Steelers (who basically lost the game more than the Giants won it). The Steelers have the league's best defense, but their offensive talent is basically a very poor man's version of the Panthers. Our defense is subject to give up a big play, and bends a lot more than the Steelers' D, but we make big plays as much as any of the top D's in the league. Furthermore, Plaxico Burress was the only Giants receiver who puts fear in the opposition---not saying that Armani Toomer and Domenik Hixon can't get a play in here and there, but our defensive backfield can and will make them look more ordinary than they already are. Of course Eli Manning will first have to feel comfortable in the pocket to be at his best, and there is no way that Peppers and company are going to allow him to do that. And, whether people want to admit it or not, Eli is more than a little sketchy when guys begin to get in his face and his head. So, the passing game is not going to be they key for the Giants, which brings us to their running game.

The Giants have a good sable of running backs, lead by Brandon Jacobs, but for the most part, the Panther D has shut down backs better than what the Giants have to offer. I expect our defensive lineman to be very motivated to shut down the Giants, or at least make their backs look decidedly ordinary also. Even if the Giants running backs have decent games, their RB committee is not going to outdo D-Wheel and J-Bird (roll and fly), who are elusive and tough in their own rights, and the best RB duo in the league. Moreover, other than Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, the Panthers arguably have the best duo of wide receivers in the unheralded and often overlooked Muhsin Muhammad, and league's most electrifying WR. Steve Smith. Throw in a very competent supporting cast of secondary receivers and tight ends, and this will make for a long afternoon for the Giants. Jake Delhomme, though shaky at times in his own right, has been as effective and as smart a field general as we have seen him in his career. Delhomme is highly inspired, and history has shown us what Jake can do when put into situations where big games are on the line. He wins!

The Giants have lost two consecutive games, and are faltering a little. Their true colors are just beginning to show. The Panthers are peaking at the right time as evidenced by our last couple of games. The Panthers are bringing more to the table, and will not only ****** the home field advantage away from the defending Super Bowl champions this Sunday, but will ****** their reputation as being the top contender for the Super Bowl in the NFC.

Very good read...lots of good points. I believe this game will come down to the running game and Jacobs is not 100 %.

The only concerns I have is Manning...the guy is consistant and his team has their backs against the wall and they will be playing in front 74000 loud and drunken Giants fans. Pressure Eli and keep the crowd out of it and let Williams and Stewart do their thing then the Panthers win.

if we start hard and fast (which we will....that's what we do now) we will be getting the giants frustrated and i don't see them being able to keep it together after the past two weeks.

they start making mistakes and not only will the crowd be taken out of it but they are going to start booing the giants.

it's going to be easy to get into the giants' heads.

Many of you are a lot more confident that I am. But it should be a fun game to watch and I'll be yelling at the TV cheering our team on to victory Sunday night.

I just have a bad feeling about this game. IDK why but its just seems too good to be true and Jake had a great game last week so Im worried he is gonna be throwing up ducks this week. I am a Panthers fan though so I expect my team to be hot and cold.

Given our past history, I can definitely understand where you’re coming from. That being said, I think this is as complete a team as the Carolina Panthers have ever been. We had a back with more yardage in 2003, not to mention a better defense in the same year. In 2005, Smitty lit up the charts in receiving yards and won the triple crown (though he’s not that yardage total this year, which is a feat in itself considering he missed his first two games).

But this is without a doubt the most complete, well-balanced team we’ve seen in recent years.

Whether the Panthers have been “hot or cold,” they have always been consistent when it mattered: December and the playoffs. I’m cautiously optimistic when I say I expect to see a big game from Delhomme and Smith.

I have a bad feeling about this one as well. Actually, I'll call this as a loss for us. We have a very good team. But the Giants have been beaten pretty soundly the last two weeks and I doubt they'll let that happen again. Plus with Jacobs in and Kemo most likely out, that makes me think our run defense will be shredded. Besides, the Giants are a very good team playing at home. They have to have the advantage. If we were hosting them, I'd see us as the favorites.
