Godfrey a liability?

I meant to post this earlier, but I kind of forgot when he accidentally caused the fumble with his helmet. That motherf*cker SUCKS. Might be the worst starting safety in the league. Doesn't hit well, doesn't wrap up, blows coverages constantly in zone, he just SUCKS. Other than the fumble, he was a giant hole in the defense in tackling and coverage. I just don't understand why he's still out there. Give Martin a shot, he can't do any worse.

Guys, I believe it is more scheme. Same can be said for Marshall and gamble, but the fact is they all are cover guys who are in a zone scheme and being misaligned. With scheme we are running its just not fair to judge anyone in pass coverage.

Godfrey blows....he blew all last year also. Harris stinks in coverage and Marshall doesn't impress either. If you watched Marshall outside that one pick he was just plain sad. Gamble is alright but I put him in Lucas' category (even though they are clearly different sytle CBs) both are put in position to fail under Fox's schemes. Captain looks promising. As a unit, they look to be worse in Meek's version of Fox's defense than Trgo interpretation of Fox's D.........Fox is begging for teams to pick them apart with the soft play and weak pass rush.

Godfrey is horrible though....popping a ball out once means nothing in the grand scheme of thems in comparison to everything he doesn't/can't do.

    • Tell me what type of QB they were especially year2?
    • IMO Xavier Legette: Very up and down season, with more downs than ups. The hands/body catcher thing is a MASSIVE red flag. He has all the talent in the world but if you are this deficient in your fundamentals, it is a very steep learning curve at this level. I suspect we are going to be talking about him as another failed Panthers WR pick in another season or two. Jonathan Brooks: What more could be said that hasn't already been said? I feel for the kid but taking a RB in the 2nd round is not smart. Taking a RB coming off an ACL tear is WILDLY moronic. One of the worst draft decisions in the Tepper era. Trevin Wallace: A developmental pick taken a little higher than he should have been and inconsistent when he saw action. Overall, he showed some flashes and should be a part of our backup/rotation for another season or so to develop. Hopefully he becomes a starting caliber player by season three. JT Sanders: Terrible start to his rookie season that quickly evolved in a meteoric rise but subsequently fell off the map after a scary injury. Absolutely should be a featured player on this offense for years to come. Possibly the best TE since Greg retired.  The Rest: About as expected. Some decent flashes from Smith-Wade but these are all backup level players, so anything we get is great. There are no "busts" after the 4th round.
    • He's been excellent in both years, having to be the top target when he he has never been a true #1 in terms of ability.
