Lin signs with Nets

I also just realized, the Nets just waived Jarrett Jack last night prior to signing Lin.  We were reportedly interested in Jack a couple years ago, so I would keep him in mind going forward as well.  He's a little older, but is similar to Lin in some facets, and likely he will come fairly cheap.

The only issue is he is coming off an ACL injury.

Good for Lin. He was a good Hornet and gets to go back to New York. Was always going to be a long shot to keep him and Lee around.

This is great for the Hornets' rep with agents. McBob and Lin have now turned their journeyman contracts with the Hornets into very nice pay days.

As for the tall guard that can play the 1 and the 2, that's Belinelli, although he's more of a 2 than 1 unlike Lin. Batum can also run the offense.

If Cho budgeted for Lin, I hope he makes a call to Courtney Lee's camp.

If we are going that route I'd rather bring in Panther fan Mario Chalmers, who looked like he found a role in Memphis before he got injured and waived.

If we could get Howard at something around 4 years 100-110 million I'd be happy. Still have enough money to sign a low level pg and hopefully swing a deal involving lamb or Hawes to find a stretch 4 that can maybe play the 3 spot if needed.

Spencer Hawes is on a decent deal from the old cap and Cody is on a rookie deal and is going to be actually training for the center spot this offseason after a decent showing last year but "we HAVE give Dwight Howard 100 million dollars!"

Are y'all crazy?

If you think Hawes and Zeller are the answer at center I would like to hear more about why they are.

I never said they were. They are stopgaps and a lot better than they're given credit for. Hawes was a major reason we won game five in Miami.

We have made our "splash" with Batum. Now it's about smart spending to fill out the roster.

Ian Mahinmi is a solid defensive option as a backup. He and Batum share the same agent.

Oh I agree with signing him but nothing too long term. I just think Zeller and Hawes at center is a nightmare. Guess we will have to see but no money coming out of my pocket for a team that is not spending to get better. If they do spend to get better I will spend to support the team. Signing Batum helps keep us near where we were at last season but it is going to take some new faces to get better not the same faces. We can agree to disagree.
