That's his point. I wouldn't mind Dwight Howard. He would probably love to play with a PG like Kemba. He has a long time working relationship with both Clifford and Ewing. He is an EXACT fit for Cliffs system.

I don't think he was dissing Batum, just yawning at this point until we get that rebounder, shot blocker.....and scorer

But, that's kind of unreasonable.  We absolutely HAD to re-sign Nic.  IF Nic walks, what good would signing Dwight do?  If you can't retain your stars, it doesn't matter who else you bring in because you're constantly patching up holes while new leaks spring up.

With Whiteside staying in MIA, we desperately NEED a big to counter that.  I'm really hoping that we somehow swing a deal for a guy like WCS through that Belinelli deal.

The way you counter Whiteside is to drive right at him. Nearly won the series for us until MIA complained about the officiating.

Much like Biz, I'm still not convinced that guy is any good, but he fits the team and is a big help, so more power to the Heat.

I loved WCS coming out of that draft but I don't think he would be coming back in that deal.

Yeah, but that's my point, CB.  We often seem to come out on the short end when it comes to officiating, so we need to minimize weaknesses to eliminate that possibility from negatively affecting us.  We need to be good enough that we don't have to worry about officiating on any given night.  A defensive stopper with offensive potential down low would go a long way in achieving that.  We just need some kind of post presence to give us some consistency.

They still have enough room for Dwight. I agree, they had to sign Nic, had to, but the guy was saying we were excited about "same".

I can see his point. They need to go get Dwight

Is someone cranky that they were beat to making the OP? It's okay, I'm sure there's many more OP's to come!

No, it's because you were arguing about this move.  When clearly it's a good move, and clearly anybody can be a contender in the East.  While they might not beat LePasstheballwhenitscrunchtime.  They can still be a contender in this God awful conference.

Dwight's asking for 31 per, because he opted out of 23 this year.  Does anyone with a working brain think this man is worth 31 per?

NCT, I had been hearing all week that he was seeking 30M, but last night, I think it was on the ticker on NBATV, it said he is seeking a deal starting at 24M per.  If that's the case, I could justify offering him a 4 year deal or so at 24M per.  But, hell no to anything more...

I also just realized that if he truly is only seeking 24M per, unless he goes to a team in FL or another team in TX, he is going to lose money because of the state tax.  So, maybe he just goes back to Orlando?

He has to take less to win. He knows that. He could win with this team. He knows that. He knows the coach. He knows the system.

Hornets can still make a sweet deal, they would have to forget about Marvin though.

I'm celebrating the move, and you are "overreacting" to someone else's post while invoking my name.  Petty...  And yet, you are the epitome of level-headed, fair-minded thinking?  I guess only when it falls into line with what you like...

Jesus man. Are your feelings still hurt? Learn how to take a joke. I bet you're a really good time in person. Glad I don't know for myself.

YOU ARE NOT A CONTENDER IN THE EAST AS LONG AS CLEVELAND EXISTS. IF YOU CAN COMPETE WITH CLEVELAND THEN YOU ARE A CONTENDER.

Cleveland is beatable.  With our core, we are likely one player (a consistent, productive big that gives effort on both ends) away from being a team that could push Cleveland to the brink every year, if not outright beat them.  None of that is possible if Batum walks.

That was a joke?  And you're projecting that I must be a party pooper in-person?  LOL.  That second post must be the punchline then, because it wasn't funny until now.

But to be perfectly honest, I could give a poo less.  I replied because you mentioned me by name where there was no need to.  I want to discuss our teams and even if I don't agree with your posting style or opinion, respectfully debate it and move on.  But, over the last few years, the Huddle has become extremely clique-ish, and instead of debating or having a respectful discussion, people insult one another, look for any opportunity to take pot shots, and basically ignore anything that doesn't fit their views.  You bringing my name into a discussion that I wasn't a part of to demean another poster isn't a particularly funny joke...  It was a fully intended low blow.  But, hey, if that's what you enjoy, have at it.  I'm sure if I made fun of someone for being overtly passive aggressive and nothing more than a yes man by saying they must be related to you that you would find it hilarious.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
