I can't hate a player getting as much money as he can. Which is what Luck's agent got him.

How can I hate it when the CBA allows it?

Yes, I argree that it's nay to much money to pay any sports player, but unfortunately, it is allowed for this. I blame the CBA.

While most fans thought that a higher salery cap meant that a team can afford more star players.....the players are just going after their same piece of the pie, which keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The players union will never agree to it, but there should be a players salery cap.

The problem with player maximums is that they are often counterproductive to the very thing that the salary cap is trying to achieve which is parity.  The NBA is an example of this.

congrats on being the new saints indy

and i don't mean the one that won a super bowl in 2009/10

At this point in time, Luck doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same conversation as Brees.

It makes me nauseous to even take up for Brees, but he is light years better than Ulysses S. Luck and his lackluster militia.

Holy poo now I WANT to see him fail just to see it all blow up... That's just idiotic if true.

He will just be average. It will blow up in their face. They will be in cap hell and a trash team for the next decade.

Jeez...87 milli?! I've always been for players getting as much as they can, so I ain't mad at him.

Irsay on Twitter congratulating him for being the highest paid player ever. If I'm a colts player, I'd be a little salty about that. Also, if I'm a player, this guy is getting no excuse for his screw ups. I'd be dogging him hard in the huddle. "Mr highest paid player, you can't make that pass."

people were going to laugh at the contract regardless of the number... Which is stupid.

1. This is the market Franchise QBs

2. Cap is going to continue to raise every year for the foreseeable future Lessening the impact of the number

3. Guarantee the contract gets restructured 4 or 5 years in.

4.the only important number is the guaranteed money which is 80m which really isn't that crazy

5. The most important one, this contract is paying him for his future production not his past performance. Luck is easily in the top 3 Qbs 27 and under and arguably top 10 overall.

I noted three years ago when CERTAIN posters on here were b*tching about Newton's potential deal that Luck was going to get an undeserved $25 Million dollar deal that most in the media would call a "steal" for the Colts.

When SOME on the Huddle suggested: "Hey, why don't we franchise tag and trade Newton because no QB is worth $18 million dollars a year...and we can just continue to build an awesome team everywhere and just draft inexpensive QB rather than pay Newton..." I asked those same posters should the Colts take the same approach with Luck as they were suggesting with Newton. Of course, I got no response.

I predicted that Luck would get a ridiculous deal that he did not deserve. That much was a given. Never did I think Luck would get such a deal coming off a year in which he almost led the lead in turnovers playing less than 1/2 of the season, would be outplayed by his 40-year-old backup, would post a 70 something QB Rating, and then suffer a season-ending injury. Andrew Luck posted a worst QB rating than Colin Kaepernick this season against worst defenses...

Cam Newton could literally throw 50 ints, fumble 25 times, and win exactly 1 game next season and I don't want to hear one damn word about his contract. Lord knows that the extreme differing public sentiment regarding Newton and Luck are at best bias...but at some point a spade needs to be called a spade.
