TV USS Enterprise just got the Smithsonian Treatment

This is a model built over 50 years ago for a TV show that lasted 3 years. Amazing work by ILM and the restoration team, a couple of whom I know - a good friend of mine was runner up to repaint it but lost to ILM (he's OK with losing to them)

The newest Star Trek movies are really good Star Wars movies.... if that makes sense.   They aren't bad, in fact, pretty good, just not really Star Trek.  But I don't think a Star Trek movie would sell well.

TV is what is needed for Trek to really be Trek but I'm not sure I trust network TV to be handling the new one :(.

Star Trek: Anthology should be the new show. They can jump all around the original time line, from first contact to whenever. Single episodes to running stories of 4 or 5 episodes. Just do something that is good.

Its going to be 13 episodes with a single story line. Producer worked on DS9 and VOY among other things. I've given up hope for anything really good Trekwise since TNG ended, so it's not that big of a deal for me whether it works or not.

Just now hearing about a new show. Last night on George Norry, talk about ST and the new show. Going to be on CBS premium (whatever the name of it is) . So rating won't drive it, but subscriptions. Bryan Fuller the writer behind Hannibal and lots of ST will be running this, and after what NBC did to Hannibal can't blame him for taking it to pay tv.

no not really, the time for us old school Trekkers is long gone. We glommed onto the Roddenberry 1970s fan manipulation that got us our original cast movies and TNG, after that it was just Paramount squeezing it dry. It would be great to see ST: Beyond and this new show get back to the things we want - ethics, moral dilemmas that make us think, and great writing - but I'm never surprised when they don't happen.

Agreed this was the best part of the original series. But the TNG sucked. Piccard is a pussy, and #1...bleh.

Wrath of Kahn was great, that's the peak for the return me thinks. I do like the revisit going on now though. I can use a little action, can't wait for this one the 22nd.
