Places to eat in DC?

My aunt lives in La Plata, MD but were planning on parking and riding in on thr metro so I guess really anywhere

Wow. La Plata.

Actually, if that's where you're staying, DC might not even be your best bet.

First, you might want to consider going to National Harbor. It's very close to you, a lot of fun, a lot of great places to eat there, ride on the giant Ferris Wheel (not sure if you're going with kids, or a significant other). I'm not sure what place in particular I'd recommend there, as it's a lot of high end chains, so you can't go wrong. But if you want to make a day of it, take the ferry over to Old Town Alexandria. There I would recommend the Fish Market Restaurant on King Street. The Admiral Platter is one of the best meals you can get in town, and start with the crab-stuffed avocado.

If you do venture into DC, Navy Yard/Nationals Park will be a quick jaunt on the metro for you. There at Yards Park, I really like Due South. Decent BBQ, great atmosphere, amazing cocktails, and you've got to try the Mac n' Cheese.

And if you're in the neighborhood, you really should go check out 8th St SE. Barracks Row. Lots and lots of restaurants and bars there. I can't vouch for the food, because I only go bar-hopping there. But if you have time to stand in line at Rose's Luxury, all of my friends who have gone say it's incredible.

Outside of that, the only place I would really recommend is Dino's Grotto on 9th st. Shaw/Howard on the Green line, which should be a straight shot for you. If you go there and Andrew or Rick is bartending, tell them Scott and Anya sent you, and ask if the "Four Horsemen" is ready. It's the house cocktail aged 3 months in an oak barrel. All the food there is amazing, but I insist you try the deviled eggs. And if you go on Sunday, it's all-day Happy Hour. And if you see a bespectacled, tan Santa Clause in a Hawaiian shirt, that's Dean, and he owns the restaurant. If you ask, he'll tell you what he just added to the menu, what's freshest that day, or generally what you're best bet for an entree is.

Need any other recommendations, or want to pop by Cleveland Park for a drink, let me know.

Will check it out. Thanks!

That's a reference to House of Cards. It's not a real place.

Bump!  I'll be in DC in 3 weeks.  I make my own BBQ so I need something else and my boss hates seafood.

Same question. Let me know what neighborhood you'll be in and I'll give you some tips.

Thanks man! We will keep those places in mind. National Harbor looks really cool so we will def check that out.  We were planning on seeing a Nats game too so those places around the navy yard sound great. Were going to be up there for a week and a half so there should be plenty of time to see a lot of stuff.
