Well when people pay to watch a team you have to give them hope. If we believe the team is just sitting doing nothing to get better then why spend my money?

I don't believe they're doing nothing. I also have season tickets. I'm in 216. Which section are you in?

Fact with the way Cliff coaches any rookie we picked in this draft outside the top 6 players would never have seen the court for the next 3 years the way this team is set up .

Keep talking about hope but the hope would have been is the draft pick gonna get in during clean up time in a blow out.

Do not live in Charlotte in Wilmington, NC. Doesn't make me less of a fan just means I live further away. They are doing something but it is not giving me hope and at the end of the day that is what I spend my money on. I have Hornets Merch and have plenty of things related to them. Will not buy anymore until they show me they are a serious franchise and not playing the mediocre game.

This. Obviously this.

We act like a rookie picked at 22 was gonna come in and make an impact. Have we ever had a rookie come in and make an impact? Definitely not while Cliff has been the coach.

It's not an exciting trade. But there's no reason to say you have no hope or that you're done.

Sigh come back during the season and remind me of this when you watch Belinelli play. Done now time to code some apps. Peace and hope everyone has a good day.

PD I think you're addicted to two things 1) bitching about the moves the FO of the Hornets and Panthers make and 2) using the extreme opposite to describe someone who disagrees with you or calls you out on it.

Jesus....can we let the draft and FA end before we start looking to slit Cho's throat?

I'm not super excited about the move, but I can make sense out of it and I get it. I do think a vet is going to help the team more than anyone who would have been there at 22.

And OldNorth....I love ya but after you claimed we were getting swept after game one it's plus paired with this it's tough to take you seriously.

RR, is calling my colorful commentary about personnel moves "overreactionary" before the move has proven to be good not also using an "extreme" to describe a behavior you don't ascribe to yourself?

You do the same thing, but you feel your approach is the "right way," so you view mine as extreme because it doesn't jibe with yours.  As I've said a million times elsewhere, when I'm worng, I eat my crow.  But this board far too often takes that ho-hum approach and for years that kept our franchises in mediocrity.  Maybe subconsciously, that's why I react strongly to things, to counter the years I witnessed the other crowd handling it there way and accepting the status quo.

But, just as I rail against moves I don't like, I have also vehemently praised the moves I do.  I also admit when I'm wrong.  I'm passionate, and I don't see anything wrong with it.  If we were sitting side by side at a Panthers or Hornets game, we'd be gasping on bad plays and high fiving and fist bumping while screaming our heads off on the great plays.  I'm not here to start an argument, I just don't see how my approach is any worse than the "extreme opposite," especially when it often leads to in-depth discussions regarding our teams.

I hear ya man. And that's your choice. To me saying you're only going to rep your team if they're good is an overreaction.

Personally im not worried about Belenelli because i know hes a guy thats gonna see the court that much barring injury and just needs to find that 3 point stroke he had in years past and the 10-15 minutes hes gonna give a night will be worth it over the late round pick we would have gotten out of this draft.

Then you my friend have not seen Marco play recently. If I feel like I might have a chance to beat you one on one you shouldn't be getting traded for any first round pick.

Lolololol Bro, you are seriously overestimating yourself here. I don't think anyone is buying that poo. It's just weakening your argument.

Not that I'm a big fan of the pick, but I'm liking the 48 wins direction of the franchise. Don't think pick 22 makes more impact than Belinelli next season

Belinelli also eats up necessary cap room to re-sign some of the core players from that 48 win team

I'm just confused

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
