Shula was entertaining.  Chud isn't.

Give them both a a strong unit...I'll take Shula.

Me too. I don't know where I heard it but rumors were that Chud was watering down the playbook and only giving Cam one or two options to run because he didn't think Cam was smart enough to read defenses and call his own audibles. Fast forward to Shula who gave Cam free reign to call what he wants and change things up. Which has worked better? The 2012 Chud offense or the 2015 Shula offense? It isn't even close.

I dont think not smart enough was the right word. Probably inexperience since Cam was new.

I would also argue Chud leaned more on Cam than Shula does.  Granted both did and do (and should).  Chad basically put Cam on a field and tried to razzle dazzle and get noticed.  Shula IMO just wants to win and knows Cam is the key

Are you talking about the rumors or what you now think is the case. What I distinctly heard is that Chud didn't think that Cam could audibelize into the right play by reading the defense and took it out of his hands. Intelligence and football smart arent the same thing. The question wasn't how smart Cam was from an IQ point of view so much as could he make line calls and read defenses and make the right reads on offense.  Chud didn't think he could and limited his options. Shula continued to develop him and build more complexity as he mastered the offense and learned how to exploit defenses with his arm as well as his legs. He even made our running game the most diverse in the league when Benjamin went down.

All of that still comes from experience. You can't expect a noob QB to come into the league and understand all the dynamics of the offensive-defensive chess game. Any OC's hands are tied to varying degrees working with an inexperienced QB at the pro level. Cam's transition was arguably more difficult than most due to his limited experience on the big stage in college. Chud put Cam in a position to make history. I think that what you're insinuating about Chud is a little presumptuous in regards to what he thought of Cam. Who knows how he would've aided Cam in developing today.

Again this is not my opinion or what I think. This is what I heard second hand from someone who supposedly knew what was going on. Take it for what it is worth.
