Met Steve Smith today

I saw him in SouthPark Mall a few weeks back.  Had the entire fam with him.

I "yelled" out SMITTYYY in one of those muffled-scream-whisper-voices to him.  I gave me a sly smirk.

You hate to bother these guys on their leisure, but then again they kinda have to expect it to some extent.

As for what happened, no one is perfect.  He had his faults, but has always been a straight shooter.  Gotta respect that.

The Panthers did tell Ian Rapoport that Smith was let go because they wanted to go younger and cheaper while also viewing Smith as a disruption to the younger players on the team - including Cam Newton. That is known. Gettlelovers tend to forget the facts and create mythical images of unicorns and pots of gold about the man.

As for the loyalty comments, I agree that you either work for an organization that is loyal while expecting loyalty back from their employees, or you work for an organization that makes it known there is no loyalty given and no loyalty expected from employees. The issue for players and agents is that Gettleman expects/demands loyalty from the players while selling loyalty from the front office to their faces in negotiations only to demonstrate in the actions of the front office that there is no loyalty from up top.

lmao at people saying it wasn't handled poorly? Do you have any knowledge of what actually happened?

Nope, just what's on the record that shows the Panthers handled it professionally.

That won't stop Team 89 from inventing poo to satisfy the dark conspiracies in their brains though.

How so?

I think everyone's main gripe was that he was on vacation in Utah and found out about it on the news, rather than in person or over the phone. As far as I'm concerned, you should always expect bad news from a thousand miles away when you keep punching fools all the time, but I can understand the saltiness.

He found out on the news that he got what he requested?
