My gut says Remmers but on a short leash.  A bad game against Denver again and Daryl may take over.

has daryl improved on pass blocking? iirc his footwork was leading him to get beat on edge rushes in camp last year, which is largely what gave remmers the top spot last season

If CAP has his fumbling under control, I truly believe Fozzy is the odd man out.

From all accounts, Fozzy has looked really good in training camp.  I too was thinking he might be gone, but sounds like he's gonna fight very hard to keep his spot.  The RB battle is going to be interesting.  (It was last season too...)  Wegher is PS eligible.  Could be the difference.  I know last year we were afraid he'd get poached... much will depend on whether he flashes again in Pre-Season games

Joe Person had a brief blurb about David Mayo in an article at the Observer.  Sounds like Mayo made the most of extra reps due to Luke's being on the sidelines.  This is a very good thing given that it's pretty likely that AJ Klein will be gone next year...

Injuries to several of the Panthers’ key players meant more opportunities for a number of younger players. I wrote earlier this week about the marked improvement of wideout Devin Funchess in his second season.

But someone else who was on the field a lot in May and June was second-year linebacker David Mayo, the former fifth-round pick who was strictly a special teams player in 2015.

Mayo still plays behind arguably the deepest linebacking group in the NFL. But his spring reps could prove invaluable if Luke Kuechly has a setback in his return from shoulder surgery or if there’s another injury at the position.

Enjoying these zod pieces(big props, admitting nassism cannot bust your balls about ego now )........ FYI Williams was a 4th and remmers hasn't signed a contract extension to my knowledge. You where the first to start funch hype train, nice follow to calling the butler pick.

My rule about rookies is no judgement til after the first full year. Starting after the last game, then first true NFL off season begins. Most times the biggest improvement in ones' career is during this time. I always try to be honest,( it's a terrrrrible habit for this era) but I stated a few times how much I disliked this class. Now that true judgement has started, I may need to find a good hot sauce for crow dining. Still need to see real game action and how many snaps are being played. Hope this class plays a role in multiple super bowl wins.

Fozzy is the change of pace back. If we cut a guy it will not be him. Wegher will probably get the hammer.

Been saying it for a while now, I'd be cool with us trading Klein for a 2nd tier CB if there is a need out there somewhere.

This time last year I might have joined this "let's trade Klein when the time comes" bandwagon...  THEN Luke's concussion happened and we saw the incredible value of having Klein as a really really good backup - a guy who would start on many teams, and who can play all the LB positions.  We hardly missed a beat with the best player on our defense out for 3 1/2 games.

He deserves a chance to start and make more money that we'd be able to pay him.  But if there's some way he wants to stay a panther and play with Luke & TD for a few more years, I'd be thrilled.

Oh, and even if we do let him hit FA next year, it could net us a comp pick.  Given our stacked roster, we seem to be needing to sign fewer free agents, thus I expect us to be getting 1 or 2 comp picks each of the next few years as we have more talent than we can keep...

That's why it's nice to have Klein. Linebackers have a tendency to get hurt and he helped immensely when Luke was out last year.
