I don't think Garrett makes it either. I'm don't understand why people set themselves up for disappointment and anger.

If anyone wants to know why we are a great team, it's not the guys at the top.  They are amazing players but it's the competition that we're fostering at the bottom of the roster that makes the team great.  We are getting some insane depth at some positions and we're developing at the places we're deficient.  This is a masterclass in how to build a team.

I was torn on the last WR spot between ginn and brown. I think byrd could play both roles with his quicknes and downfield speed. My prediction is that philly or ginn wont be on the roster but Byrd will be. 

 

And im not a philly pessimist. Im a Byrd optimist and looking at the current roles on our offense. Lots of philly butthurt in this thread! 

 

Edit. Its my prediction. Maybe its suprising for some. But there are suprising cuts every year and this is what i got. 

upon what basis does byrd outplay philly brown and take his roster spot? byrd couldn't even make the roster last year, and philly brown went on post 500 yards as an option guy and became our leading WR in the playoffs. has byrd done something i don't know about?

Again..  Its about the future and predictions. This is my bold prediction. Also, Byrd could take Ginns role. Cheaper, younger.. And maybe faster. I am going out on a limb. Soley predicting off of thought. We will see. There are suprises every year

I was responding directly to your post which mentioned that Garrett has speed but Hill and Byrd don't. Hill definitely has speed as well as Byrd. The three of them are all on level playing field right now, what they did or didn't do in the past doesn't matter. If Hill shows better hands and speed than Garrett then he will get the roster spot.

As long as he can catch now I see nothing wrong with rotating him in on a few go routes. It doesn't take a ten year vet to run in a straight line and Hill calling card is burning guys so bad that there isn't any contact to be had anyway.

To the fluff question proehl is always pretty positive about his guys so I wouldn't look too much into it.

well by that metric i predict CAP will take stew's position because he's cheaper and younger and there are surprises every year

Also, a top 100 player is not the same calibur as philly brown.

Panthers WRs coach Ricky Proehl said Stephen Hill "would have pushed for a starting job" before tearing his ACL in training camp last year.

Proehl said Hill was so impressive at spring workouts and early in camp that he was "ready to make me famous as a coach." "Unbelievable," Proehl said. "That’s how well he was performing in camp last year." Cam Newton also mentioned how Hill's ACL tear was a "big deal" for the team following the season. Although the mere mention of his name elicits eyerolls in the fantasy community, size-speed freak Hill is a player to keep in mind for the summer.

I'm a fan of Hill and Byrd.  Odds are they won't both make it whoever does will have earned it and it will be a better wr group as a result.  I'm excited for these guys because following the reports, everyone seems hungry.  KB is hungry coming back from injury, Funchess is eager to prove he's Devin the Dude.  Ginn of course is going to compete.  Then you've got all the young guns.  This is going to be a great year.
