although i did like this bit, even if cpantherking thinks it's a bad thing

sounds like the way another team i've heard of does business.  do you think the patriots were worried about "windows" when brady was 27?  what just happened with chandler jones?

Given his track record, if he hates it then it pretty much has to be the right thing to do.

I think that it's highly presumptuous for you to say that "Butler isn't designed to be  pass rushing DT." As noted earlier, Butler was in a three man front his college career. This allowed teams to double him all the time. The Panthers use four man fronts which will make for markedly more one-on-one situations. Plus, defenses will have to pick their poison, and just won't be able to double Butler all game long.  There is a reason why Gettleman and others have noted Butler's athleticism and the fact that men of his size aren't supposed to be able to move like he does.  The Panthers are developing him to be more than just a space-eater that commands double teams.

The one mistake I have seen many make about Butler in this thread is that he is either a space eater or penetrator...in reality, he's both.  He has the potential to play at an elite level in either Star's or KK's role in this defense, so he's actually insurance against either being hurt or lost in FA.  But more so, he's here to be a dominant force that is capable of doing whatever is needed from the DT position.  IMO, he's the scariest kind of DT, the kind that isn't relegated to playing one role.  His versatility is going to be a frightening experience for opposing DC's to prepare for...however, the caveat with this is that he needs to develop like most expect him to, but based on the work ethic he's shown, there's no reason to think he won't.

Public service announcement to those reading:

The above poster has no sources, no inside info, no football knowledge and no credibility.  Any and all inside facts he claims to have knowledge of are completely fabricated and he has been consistently shown to be wrong on all theories and ideas posted.

His words contain nothing of any consequence and his posts may be summarily ignored, other than commenting on his lack of credibility and intelligence if you feel so inclined.

Have a nice day.

I hope you realize that he's just trolling everyone.  I've been watching this play out for a while now, and it's humorous to see him post some ridiculous rant that clearly comes out of his ass (with no real attempt to cover that fact up), and everyone jumps in railing against it.  I guarantee he's sitting behind his computer laughing at all the gullible Panther fans freaking out.

IMO, it's clear that he's a master troller giving an advanced lesson on how to stir up a message board.  I have zero doubt he believes very little of what he says, it just amuses him to get everyone so riled up.

The only thing I might add, right or wrong, is that Butler being able to take up space is pretty much a given.

Obviously I have reason to believe that he can do it all based on what people, especially Gettleman, have said about him.

Or perhaps it's Marty himself, LOL!

I accept that's a possibility, though the fact he rarely responds anymore (he used to do so frequently) works against it. Most trolls go back and forth.

If that is his schtick though, it's pretty pathetic.

If the guy is so desperate for attention that it makes him feel happy and fulfilled to have a bunch of people laugh at how stupid he is, I can't imagine he has much of a life in the real world.
