Hey Zod, honest question here..

Do you think Cams goofiness takes away from practice? I mean it sounds like rivera isnt happy with the focus and mistakes. Btw i love Cam but just curious. Im not there myself to observe and it's something ive wondered. Thanks

I think that if it were the regular season during a practice or even training camp, it wouldn't have gone over well. But since this is OTA's it is a lot more relaxed out there.

The whole thing with Webb, do you think Cam had a part in taking away that focus?

No, he was goofing around after the Joe Webb blunder. Cam may have just been trying to lighten up the tensions after the coach talked.

"Devin Funchess looked like a man among boys again today while facing the Panthers secondary. In the best play of the game, Funchess did a spin move to break free from Daryl Worley, then caught a bullet from Cam Newton effortlessly for a would be touchdown. Devin Funchess may be the best receiver on the field, even when Benjamin is healthy".

Very Interesting. Nice to have weapons.

I'm fully confident our young DBs will be ready for the season. Having to go up against KB, Funch, Cam and company is about the toughest group they will have to face. So it's great for them to go up against them every day with the help of McDermott, Wilkes, and Rivera along the way. It will all slow down and click for them eventually. I have no doubt

Nice write up Jeremy, thanks.

Just read an excellent write up re: Lou Young at Panthers.com - debated whether it is thread worthy, but thought I'd post the link and an excerpt here instead.  It sounds like Young is taking a page out of J-No's book in terms of a lot of extra work on ball skills after practice.  Good for him.

Jeremy, Young is a name I haven't heard any of the beat writers mention in awhile.  Any insight as to how he's looking?  I realize that given that he was on the PS almost all of last season, there may not be so much to compare his current level to.

Anyway, here's the link:

Quote

When the players start making their way into the locker room, Young finds football operations assistant Matt Worswick, and they begin their post-practice routine.

Young works on his ball skills for about a half-hour after each practice. It involves a wide variety of drills that takes him across the entire length of the field and back.

"I just try and get better every day," said Young, sweat pouring down his face after completing the workout. "Some days I practice at nickel or outside more than others, so I work on different breaks from the inside or outside. Sometimes they throw at me, sometimes it might be a day where I’m just running to the ball. I just have to stay in the routine of seeing the ball and catching the ball to make it a habit."  [...]

"It started with J-No, and I saw the progress he made," Young said. "I got here late in his career here, but I saw his work ethic and I wanted to work on my craft."

That is the kind of attitude that makes a player good/great. I see you, Lou Young...

    • Our Oline is decent, but the roster itself isn't very good.   It seems Bryce is a step slow mentally. He's missing wide open WR's at times. That's inexcusable. For whatever reason he forgot how to play QB at the NFL level. Sure our culture sucks, but damn we gave him a pretty decent Oline this year and upgraded the skill positions slightly.   My only thing is we gave him 2 weeks. That seems a bit unfair. Maybe 4 weeks in if he's still playing like trash you move on. My only thought is Canales doesn't want him. He made the decision to move on early. It is what it is.
    • Cam is popping up on my YT lately for his games of NCAA 25 and Madden.
