He had a down year with the Ravens but its not like he completely lost his skill sets from the days of Jaguars and if he did its not like he cant retrain to get them back?

Answer the question  sir if you don't mind. I believe you played OL before right, what level did you play at and how much coaching experience do you have.

The Ravens cut him making James Hurst and Rick Wagner their starting tackles.

I repeat, by cutting Monroe, the Ravens said in a very loud voice that they were more comfortable with JAMES HURST and RICK WAGNER as their starting tackles.

But you keep on keepin' on, Don Quixote.

and james hurst is like byron bell-tier bad too.  legitimately one of the worst tackles in football since he entered the league.

i dunno this whole thing seems weird.  his advocacy for the NFL to change their drug policy seems like it's playing a role in this too and i'm at a loss as to why that's such a big deal.  i doubt he's the only one.

Quixotic is one of my favorite words. Never get to use it much. That and defenestration. Almost never get to use that one.

James Hurst and Rick Wagner are probably better than Focult?

Did they not  draft 1st round OT who should be the starter , but you keepin' on , Don Quixote.

Is it, or are we just assuming that's the case? I sure don't know, and if it is, I very much doubt anyone's gonna admit it.

I like his name (Eugene is my middle name) so let's sign him.

Rumor has it that they want to make Ronnie Stanley their LT.

Some Huddlers were comparing Oher to Bell also, and saying how bad he was. I don't know if Monroe is as bad as some are trying to say, but I do know that our line coach can bring the best out of him if he sees something on tape that makes him believe that the talent is still there. Furthermore, there were also cap considerations that played in his dismissal from the Ravens, as well as the fact that they drafted Stanley.

We have a winner right here

I don't "want" Monroe, but one thing IS for sure-we need another body-and Anthony Munoz and/or Orlando Pace aren't walking through that door.  Whoever we bring in will have a flaw or more of some sort.

You got that right.

On an off note, Hurst, appparently the butt of jokes here, is still relatively young and has been inconsistent, but I would take him in a heartbeat if he were to become available.

We need some depth, and I'd rather deal with some good clay---fresh or aged---than air.

well they saw fit to mention it in the article on their official site detailing his release.  take from that what you will.

Monroe had surgery to repair a torn labrum (shoulder) this offseason, and used the time off to become the first active NFL player to openly campaign for the use of medical marijuana. The Ravens did not rally behind the cause.

“I promise you, he does not speak for the organization,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said this offseason.

I didn't realize he was the 1st active player to campaign for it, but in view of that I'd expect any story about him to mention it, for a while at least.

"Monroe had the highest base salary ($6.5 million) on the team and the third-highest cap hit ($8.7 million)."

That, along with his recent injury history and #6 pick Ronnie Stanley ready to earn his $, is reason enough for them to let him go. They've been working hard on their cap space and Monroe, along with some others, has had his neck under the ax all year.
