Fallen Panther fan in Orlando shooting

I have just been in total shock over the shooting as more details emerged.

There were some real acts of bravery in that club in the face of a gunman.  My deepest sympathy to everyone involved.

This kind of stuff shouldn't happen, to anyone.

The details of this story are horrifying and I'm not sure I care to hear more. Political yardsticks aside I really hope humanity can get its poo together before we all destroy each other over our skin color/religion/language/national origin etc. Our species has great potential and its wasted because of nonsense like this. I hope the families can find some peace in dealing with such senseless loss.

First of all, RIP to the fallen and God bless their families. I am a devout Christian, but this tragedy makes my heart sick for the families. I wish no ill on any man except those like the perp, who target innocents in the name of some ideology. News flash, if your religion or political leanings demand that you kill people, you need new beliefs.

But here is my second point, addressed to all those in this thread who think it dishonors the fallen to discuss the politics surrounding their deaths. If we don't discuss these things, they are going to keep happening. I don't care what side you fall on politocally, don't dishonor their memory by ignoring the reason they were murdered. A radical Islamic terrorist who hated homosexuals pledged allegiance to ISIS and decided he would wage jihad against those he hated most. Those facts are clear. And to ignore that fact, or its solutions, dishonor the fallen more than talking about them ever would.

Gonna tell me 9-11 was Americans?  How about Boston?  And Countless others.   Don't preach out the wrong orifice.

When you spend your life defending this country to see politicians scrapping for votes over the safety of Americans.  I WILL NOT STOP.

since 9/11 every terrorist attack or shooting on US soil was done by US citizens.

Yes. The intolerance of radical Islamist that want to kill anyone who believes differently.

Eh. A white kid just killed 9 people in a church that many of my friends & family attend.

The only difference is we won't invade America.

We are at war with intolerance.

No we're not.  We are at war with Radical Islam.  Sure each terrorist event on US soil was done by US citizens - US citizens that are muslims.  Not all muslims are terrorists of course, but every damn terrorist is a muslim.  So STFU and get lost..

People need to see beyond "human nature" and see the larger picture of where we as a species fit within the system within which life as we know it exists. To me, this removes the petty intolerance that acts as a catalyst to this type of violence. People, in general, are far too short sighted to see not only beyond themselves, beyond others, and beyond the world they know, into what they don't know, to truly value life. That goes into another discussion that isn't suitable for a sports forum.

That said, condolences to the fallen Panther and everyone else affected.

I didn't disagree with the original comment. But you are detracting from my point with your irrelevant counterpoint. A crazy man shot up a black church, and is therefore a terrorist. A radical Islamist shot up a gay nightclub cus he hated gay people the most. He is also a terrorist. Anyone who attacks innocent people is a terrorist. Plain and simple.

Here's where I make an issue about radical Islam over general intolerance: I don't tolerate certain things, but I have no urge to go kill those who do them. Radical Islam teaches that it's not only righteous to kill those who believe differently, it teaches that it is the duty of a good Muslim. Also, general intolerance in America is not producing repeated acts of violence and murder. Crazy people keep murdering en masse, but more often than not their ideology is left of center, or incoherent.

Radical Islam has been responsible for many more deaths both here and abroad in the past 30 years than racism or any other form of intolerance. So go ahead, just blame intolerance and bury your head in the sand. I'm going to keep speaking out against the greatest enemy we will face this century, Radical Islam.

...and this is where you lost your ability to speak on the matter.

As far as the rest of your comment goes, save the "tough guy online" thing for the rest of these dudes, unless you'd like to schedule a time to discuss the matter in person.

Here's the thing, if you ask a certain group of Americans- their greatest threat isn't radical Islam...but have at it

Anyone who uses violence or intimidation as a means of political or social gain is a terrorist. Per the DoD, but hey...I'm just one guy with an opinion and his head (and boots) in the sand.
