No Pass Rush

Our blitzes are awesome.

Rush the extra man straight into the first Offensive linemen he can find, get enveloped, and then proceed to have ass handed to thee.

So true, so true. It was very depressing to see the front 4 getting zero pressure, to see then when the try a blitz it makes absolutly no difference.

Why is anyone surprised by this? Our scheme has sucked for a long time, Fox is behind our scheme always has been and always will be, as long as he is the HC. Fox has never been a great coach like some would make him out to be, he is average. He has wasted an incredible amount of talent on this team for YEARS. What is really troublesome is that Hurney has mortgaged the future and we still dont have a decent pass rush. BTW, after watching Indy for years I can tell you without a doubt that we are NOT running Meeks' defensive scheme.

Panthers Defense has 2 sacks,Peppers has 1 so we're paying him so far over 32 million dollars over 2 games for 1 sack? I dont know the game I watched showed the front 4 rushing and not generating any pressure. When we did blitz, we show way too early which allowed Ryan to check down to a run which always picked up good yardage. The Dallas game is a must win.

One more thing, if Gamble sucks like some on here are suggesting why the new lucrative contract? Is Hurney a moron or is it player misuse?

It's obviously misuse gamble is strictly a cover/man corner and he's having his legs cut from under him playing this soft, zone, scheme were forcing him to play

I think the coverage was decent, Ryan just had too much time and was able to step up on almost every pass.

I wish we would have lost a few more games in 2007 and drafted this dude. He's going to be a star and will haunt us for years to come. I can only hope he gets traded out of our division.

I agree, the coverage wasn't bad. And several catches the Falcons receivers made were just very good catches. Especially the one Gonzales made. And especially considering how much blitzing we did.

Truth is that Matt Ryan had all day to pass, and rarely felt any heat from anyone. You give a Quarterback that good, that much time and he is going to carve you up, just like Ryan carved us up.

Again not many teams except for maybe a handful can consistently generate pressure with their front four, and one of those teams got a ring because of that. Not many teams have a Jon Beason or Julius Peppers, but manage due to those teams building around their strengths. We have a large collection of talented players but with no formula or scheme built around them. Which ultimately stems from coaching...IMHO

the lack of defense lost today's game. the falcons drove down the field on nearly every play with ease. for those of you that are still trying to find reasons to blame this lose on jake. GET OVER IT! jake played good today. he did exactly what he was suppose to. and thats manage the game. i think some of you guys are blinded by hate.

the blaming of jake had nothing to do with the defense today. Jake is no Matt Ryan but he was pretty good today (good enough to win). The fact is the defense was not good at all and if not for a couple of turnovers by the Falcons they would have scored 35+.

I agree with the original poster here, our pass rush was absolutely non existent. Our CB's are average at best and they can cover if not called upon to cover double and triple moves. Ryan had all day to allow for his WR and TE to shake our secondary.

Where in the world was Pepp? I know he is an easy target considering his salary but I expect playmaking considering his salary. Where was E. Brown?

Our pass def looked just like the second half of last year and it was the one thing that I feared all off season.
