always will be. I can't believe how fast the fans turned on this guy

Can't argue with you there.  It was always obvious Smitty was one of those dudes who you loved having on your team, but probably loathed if you were an opponent.  And even with that being said, I still like the guy.  How could ya not?  Did so much for the Panthers in his time here.

LOL idk maybe it was the panthers that turned on him? he found out he was released via social media. After all he had done for this franchise. You would be mad too

lol, you Team 89ers sure are pieces of work.

Pro Tip: If you have to invent poo to justify your position, you are arguing from a position of weakness.

"According to Rapoport, after Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said at the NFL Scouting Combine the team was evaluating Smith's roster spot, the receiver asked for his release and refused a pay cut. When the Panthers failed in an endeavor to trade the veteran their hands were forced and they cut him, per Rapoport."

I can't believe how fast the fans turned on the team in order to support one player who made it clear he wasn't gonna change a thing in order to accommodate anyone.

As BS as that statement is, it's as true as yours.

You know Smith basically called that bullshit? He said that he never asked for a trade, and that the Panthers never asked him to take a pay cut. In fact, he said that they ducked him and his agent when he reached out.

Steve Smith may be a lot of things, but he never struck me as being a ball-faced liar, and considering what he said and what the Panthers didn't say, I would say that he was telling the truth as only he could do.

Now I am not going to go there with all that stuff again---links and all---unless I have to, because it's pretty much wasted energy at this point. But suffice it to say that I think it's very shitty how some Panthers' fans poo on players when they move on from the Panthers for whatever reasons.

You can still be a Panthers fan and support one of the franchise greats that has moved on. Whenever he's not playing us, due to what he gave to the Panthers on game days and meant to this organization, I think that we should all be "Team 89", but that's just me.

You obviously have every right to feel and believe what you want.

But what I see when I observe Steve Smith is immaturity and pridefulness, with a dash of paranoia.  And if you don't think the combination of those traits could make a person justify covering his own butt by any means necessary, then you've never taken notice of immature and prideful people who think the whole world is out to get them to take what is their's.  And if that doesn't fit what you've observed, that's OK too.
