According to PFF we have the worst collection of corners in the NFL.

And his big play that game came with Luke in coverage 50 yards downfield and keek mistimed his jump.

You need to re-watch the play. Kuechly had deep underneath coverage and the ball was under thrown. Kuechly tracked the ball perfectly and was under the ball to make a play with his right hand ready to cradle the ball. Julio Jones had to slow down and adjust to come back to get the under thrown ball. Jones jumped up and reached over Kuechly to get that ball. Great play by Jones, but Kuechly did not mistime anything on that play. He was in position to make a play on the ball.

The player that failed on that play was Kurt Coleman. Coleman had over the top coverage on Julio, and he let him run by him. Even worse is Coleman fell on his face at the 20-yard line with the ball in the air allowing Jones to make that play. Coleman stays on his feet and at least is on the hip of Jones, then Jones never has the ability/angle to come back to the ball.

Coleman was the culprit of several big plays going deep in the air last season, and that was with Norman taking a third of the field away. Most of Coleman's interceptions were allowed because he could cheat deep away from Norman and play center field. That will no longer be a luxury anymore with the rookie CBs he has to communicate with now.

That secondary is in for a long season with rookie CBs and a FS in Coleman who gets beat deep often. Not even sure how Boston will factor in since he has struggled to break into the lineup with little to no competition. Boston needs the starting position handed to him, and it is even possible another safety retread beats him out for the starting spot in camp/preseason.

Davis and Kuechly are going to have to bail out that secondary the same way Cam Newton and Greg Olsen bailed out the WRs. The OTs are still getting bailed out by Cam Newton.

The WRs, OTs, and DBs are still a sore point for the front office after 4 off-seasons. I have little hope for the DBs. I have high hopes for the WRs if KB comes back strong from his injuries, Funchess makes a dramatic impact in his second year, and Stephen Hill emerges as a threat. The point is they are just hopes and there is no reasonable expectation of success given the circumstances from these units like there is at QB, TE, and LB. I have no hope for the OTs. They were bad last year, but after what the front office handed this team at OT in 2014, moving from worst in the NFL to next to worst in the NFL was a welcome improvement, which Gettleman was sadly praised for even though the OTs were still horrible.

Hey DT was a weakness, and then it wasn't. Almost entirely because of two rookies "at one of the top 3 hardest to learn positions"

Nothing about DE in that, we had the same DEs (a year less developed I'll grant you) the year before.

Not taking anything away from Star or KK by saying that - simply pointing out that having better talent around a rookie (or pair of rookies in this case) sure doesn't hurt.

Which has no bearing on anything since he still had 120 yards+ without that play and still only sniffed the 200 yard mark in a single game, a game where Josh was on the field.

Colman is moving to SS and probably for that exact reason. I like Tre Bostons coverage much better. He seems to stay in position and keep WR in front of him. Last year we had two SS on the field. This year I figure we will bring in Shaq for that look or a hybrid SS/LB.

what else is new lol our secondary is going to be better then last year despite losing one of the best corners in the game . were deeper at cb now with bradberry, whorley and  sanchez . if all of these picks end up the way other gettlemans picks did then we will have one solid secondary.

People got to understand we had mcclain , finnegan , harper and tillman which were all liabilities  at some point of last year and now were more deep at the position with younger, faster players.

Last year, about this time, they didn't think much of our secondary. Norman looked promising, but nowhere near great. The rest were just big question marks.

Meh, what do they know?

This site ranked the top 32 CB's last April, and Norman was at 25- labeling him as "reliable". Josh really cashed in big time on his 2015 performance alone. It'll be interesting to see how he does with the Redskins' D.
